Let's Have a Clearing House for Care Package Ideas and Addresses

Many of us send care packages to our sons and daughters scattered around the globe. Often we would like to do more....

I thought we might use this space to develop ideas of things to ship to our troops protecting our freedom. Also we might look at setting up a list of addresses that we could use to ship to. It is Girl Scout cookie season and I know one of our members sends cookies to troops all over. I've sent phone cards to combat areas through the USO so our soldiers could call home for the holidays. I'm sure there are hundreds of ideas out there....lets support our troops by sending them the things from home they miss and to let them them know that America supports them.

I've had some requests for the care package label template:

Updated (7 Sept 2013)!! here is the Microsoft Publisher template- Avery 5163 label:

hey my daughter-in-law just gave me a cool idea. she has a recipe that some of the women she is friends with make for sailors. its a cake in a jar, you bake it in the jar then seal it and it stays fresh. she is going to email me the recipe if anyone would like to have it I will get it to them. we could do this and attach a message to the jar. Just an idea

I'll have the address in the next day or two. Thanks for spreading the word Lauren. Tim I know we will not raise enough money or items to reach out to all the Sailors on the ship. So we will be sending the package to Andy's department. Depending on how much we have he will be able to distribute it out amongst his shipmates.

Paul I agree the sooner the better. You just have a great time on that Tiger Cruise and represent us well. So do we want to say send it April 20th at the latest.

I don't want to rub it in, but as you know EG I'm heading out to sea for awhile and then spending time with eric while he is here on leave with lots of good food and beverage....so I'll kinda be out of the loop for a week or so. I would say that this stuff should go out no later than a week from this coming Friday lest we lose the impact of this great rescue. Just my two pesos worth.............

Lauren, I'm not sure on another way to do jerky. We have not set a ship date yet. I would think that we would need a little time to get it together but would like to get it off to them as soon as possible. Please reach out to anyone you know that would like to help us thank them. We will be sending it off as a thank you from NavyDads.com. The magazines are a great idea too. We can compile an assortment of things to send in the package. I would think the fewer items we send the easier it will be to get together. Does anyone have a good projected date to get this off.

Might be able to get a donation of last months issues that are coming off the stands to send........

If you think of anything besides cookie let me know ........i like the light reading idea.....
