Navy Dads

It is our hope that Navy Dads would join us on our Navy Week adventures.  I am Chris - Bruce's wife and together we are part of a team for Molly's Adopt A Sailor.  I am going to post all of the information we put on the Colorado Moms group on Navy for Moms.  You are welcome to join us for any or all of the events that are planned.

Our next packing party coincides with Navy Week in Denver.  We are so excited to be a part of all of the events that will be happening.  We actually have 3 different activities you can choose to participate in with us.

Monday, May 2 –

Vice Admiral McCoy’s wife Terri would like to meet with some of us.  It would be from 5:30 – 7:00 at a restaurant close to downtown, we will need to decide which one.  Everyone would be responsible to pay for their own meal.  This would be an excellent time anyone who is interested to come and join us.  Please let us know as soon as you can so we know the number for reservations.

Wednesday, May 4 –

The Navy League Welcome Reception is from 5:00 – 6:30 at the Denver Athletic Club at 1500 Glenarm in downtown Denver.  Dan Puleio sent them information about us and they are excited to have us plug in.  Again, please let me know if you will attend so we can send them numbers.  I don’t think there is a cost involved but if that changes I will let you know.

Saturday, May 7 –

PACKING PARTY AND LUNCHEON

Due to time constraints for the Admirals, we are moving the packing party for just this time.  This is so we can pack and then have lunch and visit with one or more of the Admirals.  We are trying to limit the travel time involved so we can spend more time with whoever can make it.

PACKING PARTY

11:30 – 2:30 PM
VFW POST #4331

5340 MARSHALL ST

ARVADA, CO  80003

3:00 - 4:30 LUNCH             COST $10.00 per person   Due NO LATER than May 3.

One or more of the Admirals will be joining us for the end of the packing party and then to have a late lunch and talk with us.   We will be presenting plaques to them from Molly’s Adopt A Sailor and the Colorado Navy Families.  If you can add any extra to your check to help cover the cost of the plaques and the shipping for the Special Hugs boxes that would be marvelous.  Molly’s Adopt A Sailor will pay for the shipping to the Destroyer but we need to cover it for the hospital.

For payment information please email us at maspackingparty@gmail.com

I don't want to violate OPSEC by placing my personal infomation here.  Thanks for understanding.

I will be cashing the checks and paying for lunch with cash.  Once we are done I will post an accounting of how much money was collected for lunch, the plaques and the Special Hugs shipping as well as the costs involved with each thing so you will all have an accounting of the money portion.

PACKING PARTY NEEDS

We are going to make 300 personal care bags for the Destroyer we are adopting AND we are going to try to fill 144 “Special Hugs” pillowcases to send to Dwyer Hospital in Afghanistan.  Here are the items we would want to include for both groups:

  • Shampoo (8 oz sizes or so)
  • Conditioner
  • Soap
  • Toothpaste
  • Chapstick
  • Dental Floss
  • Kleenix
  • Toothbrush
  • Razor (Mach 3 with reloadable blades)
  • Shaving Cream
  • Mouthwash

Now we also want to do a bulk pack and that would include these items or others that might jump into your cart when you are shopping:

  • Candy
  • Snacks
  • Pens
  • Notepads/paper
  • Blank Cards
  • Toys
  • Puzzle Books

MOST IMPORTANT:  CARDS AND LETTERS FROM WHEREVER YOU CAN COLLECT THEM!!!!

If you can’t make the packing party but you want to help, you can make a donation if you go to:

mollysadoptasailor.com  and click on the “DONATE” button

100% of the money donated is used for shipping or items that go directly to our adopted troops.
