Holiday routine starts COB (Close of business) on 17 Dec, the sailors have to be back in the BEQ at 1900 on 2 Jan. We booked 20 Dec to 2 Jan. He has a long distance relationship and he wants to save his leave.
I am also having him submit for HARP duty too, so hopefully he can stay till the 17th. The only that that bad with that is you have to pay a change fee, but you make up for it for have the extra days off.

Craig, what dates did you use to get the tickets? My daughter was supposed to find out the dates today but I think she forgot.

Woo-hoo! We found airline (AirTran) tickets for Christmas tonight from Pensacola to Denver for $145 one way PCola-Den, and $260 Den to PCola. Man, I was worried that they would get cheaper. I've been looking for 2 weeks, and these ones came up.....

Jim C - The BE&E is just a common core thread that even non-AEF sailors (like CTM's) go through.

Well, I think I have figured things out a little anyway. Sailors in certain jobs and cryptos that are AEF are required to complete ATT school at NAS before reporting to Corry A school. The good news is ATT is all computer based. From what I've read that means she might not have to wait to class up.

Joseph - I understand now too....

Jim C. - She is probably going to be there for a really long time. I bet her "C" school graduation will be 1 year from now. She has a real long pipeline. Beleive me, she will be hitting you up for a car soon. It is so costly to take a cab to the mall, and it will just drive her crazy staying on base. You can only go to the "Portside" (MWR Recreaction facility that has the wide screen tv's, video game, and computers) just so many times.

All - Here is a slide show I did for my website about Corry Station, I'm still working getting all my pictures together and the captions entered. You can click on the pictures to have them stop. I'm actually making a book that has the story behind each on. But I thought I'd share it with you guys now, even though it isn't complete....

Joseph, my apologies for misunderstanding your post.

I'm not planning a trip any time soon. If we go it will be for C graduation I think. She got the AEF 6 year contract so she'll be there quite a while for school.

The Aviation Museum is NOT to be missed.

Jim,
Like everyone said, it will get better for her very soon. If you go to NAS, allow 1 full day at the Aviation Museum. We went with our son and his buddy one afternoon and did the IMAX experience while there. Also ate A LOT of good seafood!

Hi Dads! My son is a CTR who is now finishing C school in a few weeks and will be off to his assignment in the fleet shortly thereafter. He got to Corry right after PIR in early April and classed up in early June. Yes it is a BIG change from boot. They will spend their time on hold working, going to PT, muster, etc. as they work thorugh the phases. They get more oriented to Navy life and living on a base as a sailor versus a recruit at GL. LOTS of lectures and breifings. It has been a tremendous experience for him. If you think you saw a big change in your sailor after boot wait until they get through A and C school. I could not be happier, more proud or appreciative.
