My apology. Did not mean that OPSEC was violated by anyone in any way.
I grew up during WWll with Navy(military) censors. No names or places,no ships names, no 'a lot of things. Even a single (Japanese) aircraft flying over an island -once a day at a given time each day for three days- gave a clue to location according to one Navy censor. ( Late 1944 censored in letter to a soldiers mother, in my collection of WWll memorabilia) Many of my brother's letters were censored, too. Maybe only a single word in various places throughout the letter..
When your friend (SEAL) says :"Take my car to the house, watch my wife and kids for me, i should be back in a few." and it is early morning and is gone within the hour to whom knows where you learn to not discuss a lot of things.
What i meant to say was the less (I) personally know abt what my Sailors' are doing the better. My son had to wait three years to get clearances, while serving. My daughter two years while serving.. another son is waiting. I do not want to jeopardize what they worked so hard to achieve.
Once again I apologize for any wrong idea i may have given!!
I am proud of them, MY FOUR and ALL who serve!

Thats what she's hoping for but I think as long as she can travel she'll be happy.

My nephew got there Sept 7th. So I bet she will have to wait a little longer. She going into an awesome rating.... Is she wanting to go to ships?

Well, maybe they'll class up together. She did say there were only 2 CTT's in her PIR group, a CTT chief gave them a briefing at Great Lakes.

Jim C. - Truly, I didn't get Joseph post either. You weren't even near anything OPSEC.

Yea your daughter will start to chill out. In bootcamp, they ran her life, now she will run hers. This is why that have phased liberty. They want the sailors to grow accustomed what the base has, then they slowly let out the leash.... They don't want the sailors to get in trouble.

btw: I've been in the CT community for 32 years, I'm a retired CTM, my sons is an active duty CTN, and my nephew is a CTT, waiting for school much like your daughter.

Thanks Craig, I think a lot of the problem is going from 100 mph at boot down to a more normal pace. She got to NAS late saturday so I'm thinking she'll get more accurate information starting today.

Joseph, I don't think I violated any of the OPSEC rules. I didn't mention any names or dates. There are no pictures of my sailor on the internet that can be tied to her. I've worked for the goverment for the last 5 years in a sensative position. Not as bad as the crypto community but we've grown very used to OPSEC rules of my agency.

Jim C -
All CTT's start at NAS... When they start school they move over to Corry. There just isn't enough barracks at Corry. She's actually better to say at NAS since it's alot nicer.

As far as the school, yes the wait is long, real long. She won't start until after the new year. I know she wants to start now, all sailors want to get their lifes going. But their just isn't enough school seats. She should just sit back and enjoy the ride. Holding Company is one of the best places to be. It is alot of fun! Most sailor don't realize it until after they leave.

Your daughter will get instructions on how to get to different places. They have vans that run from NAS, to Corry, to the Mall. Then back. She will learn how to use this transportation. Does she have a computer? If not, she will learn quickly where the MWR computers are. Just give it a couple weeks and she will call you saying she's having fun. Everything new is scarry, but the Navy will teach her what the do. .

"Loose lips sink ships" even today. It is a bugger, but it is what a sailors family and that sailor lives with. Gud luck to all Navy and CT famulies out there.

My sailor got to P'cola yesterday. As new crypto dad I have a couple of questions.

1) She's a CTT and is at NAS. I thought all of the schooling for cryptos was at Corry?
2) She was told she wouldn't class up for A school until March. I've read all the posts in this group about long wait times but 5 months just for A school?

She's been there less than 48 hours, is bored to tears and chomping at the bit to get started.

They fill out what is known as the "dream sheet". Those with the highest grades usually get "pick of orders", based on current availability. The others are assigned, if possible, to their preference with deference being given to those in the top 10% of the class. The rest get as close to their desired location as possible, if possible.
