Our PIR graduate is heading for A-school this week at PCola. "N-er".

Our CTR graduates this week and has verbal orders for a ship! We are glad because the port is one we can drive to. He is now waiting to hear if he goes to C school in Pensacola or at his new destination.

When my son graduated, there were three locations available. Each sailor was asked his or her first & second choice. If there were too many asking for the same location the one with the highest grade got the location. I have also heard that sometimes the top sailor is sent to a location without getting the choice. So I guess I am saying the same thing as Todd & Earl.

Our Sailor is in his last phase of A school. We were talking last night that he expects his verbal orders any day now. It will be nice to go see him where ever it will be. My understanding is the similar Earl's..they get a chance to make a request but not necessarily a guarantee because the Navy must fulfill needs at different locations at a given time.

To all the parent wondering where there sailors will end up after A school and C school you will not get any info from your sailors until they are stationed and for their safety don't post any thing.I have learned a lot my sailor is in the Top of her class and getting to pick where they go is not always true. They will put them where they need their talent the most. A Safe and proud Navy Dad

My daughter is at DLI now as well, and loving every moment of it. Not the choice of a language she wanted, but then I told her it was a job, and not a hobbie - you have to do what your employer needs. I had not heard what the private sector range was - but that is comforting.

Pray for our missing sailor in the middle east!

There are actually 6 languages for enlisted. My son is at DLI and he called last night. He said it is hard and demanding, but he never had this much fun in high school. They make it interesting.

The average CTI coming out of the Navy is now making about $160,000 a year in the private sector! They are virtually guaranteed a government job in one the "agencies" if they want to go that route, too.

Fletch....I guess it depends on if she really likes languages. I'm sure the CTI rating is very undermanned making for quicker advancement. And the school is in Monterrey, CA...a beautiful place. But then not everyone wants to speak Arabic or Mandarin Chinese for the next 6 years. :)

Hey there,

My daughter recently enlisted and is scheduled for boot camp in Feb. or March of 2011. She originally signed a contract for IS, but successfully passed her DLAB and is considering a contract for CTI. Both are six year enlistments. Any pros and cons regarding either would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hello all. Just thought I'd introduce myself. My daughter leaves for GL in August with a AEF CTT rating. Looks like I've got a lot od reading to do here.
