Good mrning JoeG, Jr. Congrads to you New Sailor. My son was on hold for three months, He was badged about2 weeks to month after arriving in P'Cola, March 25th. He classed up June 5th. He flew home over the Memorial Day weekend and it was a joy to have our baby boy back home. He has really matured. I am wishing them all the best, as I hear the classes are not easy. Have a wonderfulday everyone.

Our son has informed us that he was told out in Monterey to not even talk to folks off base about what he is preparing for in his classes on base. We have geared up for conversations over the next several years (once he is assigned somewhere) where we will be talking about the weather, on-base sports games, where he went on Saturday, etc..., and not much about his job.

Joe,

Congrats on your son's graduation. There are quite a few dads in this group who have sons and daughters in Pensacola if you have any questions.

CT seems to be a positive choice by the sailors. My daughter says she hopes to get a Bachelors in Military Intelligence after A school. American Military University has an online program. Actually, I have been certified for Emergency Preparedness (I work for a health care system) and thinking about getting a degree from there.

My son started school a few weeks ago after being on hold for 3 months. He said it is fast paced but he is doing well. He again told me the Navy is for him and he intends on making it his career.

I am glad to hear the positive comments from the other CT dads.

Bob,

That is great to hear. My daughter has a core group of friends she hangs out with on the weekends. She said during the week it is mostly all study.

Tony,
We have been receiving positive words from our son at DLI. He likes the area and is enjoying the challenge of the classes. He has made some good friends who he does things with on the weekends. He even seems to be liking the military drill part. He had "colors" all last week and, though he complained about it a bit, we could sense a satisfaction in being a part of it all. He said he woke up the other day and said to himself, "this is cool." We were warmed by those words.

Rick,

That is great news. Best of luck to your daughter now that she is formally starting her new career. It is even better she already has friends headed to Maryland with her. Good to have a social support group.

My daughter graduated from CTR school first part of May and is already at her duty station at FT Mead Maryland. She still feels like she made the best decision of her life. She will be working admin up there until her final security clearance goes thru, about 3mos she's been told. She got her sign up bonus a few days ago so she is a very happy girl. Quite a few in her group ended up there so she has plenty of friends around.........Rick
