My daughter called last night and talked to me for 1 and half hours. She is very excited about her class. It was good to hear she likes it. She said classes are very very fast. There are only 5 people in her class.

Anyone else get positive news from their children?

Anyone else with a ctn at corry heard anything lately...........haven't heard from doug since he made his move (at navy's request) off the base. He had said they needed to make room for new students in the rooms on base. It's almost like theres info block...........he doesnt respond to his email or his moms voice mails. She was going to check the navy moms site, but i told her she'd just start another round of their "OPSEC" BS or such.

Oh, by the way... our son says the dress whites they are now wearing for special occasions (the "crackerjack" uniform-white version) are a pain to keep clean!

Tony,
Good to hear your daughter has begun the journey. Our son is a couple weeks into classes now and they are really getting into it. 9-10 hours a day, Monday thru Friday, when homework is taken into consideration. Then some homework on the weekend as well. Our son says it is the most intensely mental challenge he has ever had, but if you stay with the program and keep up, you're fine. He still really likes the whole Monterey Peninsula area. He is going to play on the Navy softball team on base. They started practice last weekend. They play games from May to August.

My daughter texted me last night. Her classes started one week early. That good for me to hear. She was getting bored waiting for classes to start.

For some reason, my daughter is obsessed with getting a car. We are toying with the idea of shipping out her car. I think she is bored waiting for her classes to start. Anyone have this experience with their child? It's like she is 15 again. She does enjoy driving something both of her parents enjoy doing as well.

Georgia, Congrats! That is great. Always good to hear about recognition people receive.

Joe, Any news or help about Monterey will be great helpful when you get back. I hope to be going out during the summer.

That's great Georgia, you must be really proud! Things like that just keep a Navy career rolling along.

My daughter's been in class at Monterey for almost three weeks now and she's still loving it. It sounds like hard work, but no time to get in trouble.

I'm going to fly to California for Memorial Day weekend and my Dad and I will visit with the girl for a while. For those people with kids at DLI I'll let you know how it goes. For those who've already been there, any tips?

Alright, I have to brag a bit, guys! My daughter, Jessica, received a J-Com Medal! As I understand it, that is quite a big thing for an E4. She also received her second "Blue Jacket of the Quarter" award! I am soooo proud of both my beautiful Sailors!!
