We've heard from Caitlin several times in the last couple of days. She absolutely loves Monterey and everything is positive so far. Her roommate and two boys from the same graduating class were able to go to the mall and to see a movie this weekend. They have lots of free time right now, but she should be starting class soon.

She gave us a list of things she wanted sent, but asked us not to send the unread books she received at Christmas. Said she didn't want any distractions from her school work. I was glad to hear that.

Best thing she said? "I made the right decision." I loved that.

Congrats to Caitlin. My daughter leaves for Monterrey the Monday after PIR. I was wondering about her cell phone and MP3 player. I am glad it is not so strict. I had read somewhere that they needed to earn privileges for those things.

Joe, I know you are relieved that Caitlin is finished with bootcamp and is now safe in Monterey. Our son calls us every couple of days now that he has his cell phone. What a difference it makes. When he starts school I am sure the calls will drop off some but for now we are enjoying it. Congratulations to Caitlin.

Caitlin called us last night from Monterey, she made it to DLI. We're already shipping her cell phone and MP3 player so she can reestablish contact with the outer world and her music. I'm sure glad Boot Camp is over. I used to have brown hair, really.

It is great to hear both boys are doing well. Congrats to both of you.

We got back from Corry Station Sunday night. We had a great time seeing our son and finally having Christmas with him. We got to see the base so now we can picture where he is. We took him a list of things he wanted from home so now he has everything he needs. He seems real happy and is ready to start school. He has been there almost 4 weeks and is presently on hold.

David, congratulations to Doug for finishing school and making E-4. I know you are proud. Robert also took JROTC and went in as an E-3. I know your glad he got to the base safely. Driving 20 hours is no easy task but at least he has a car there now.

Georgia, welcome to the group.

Well, Dougs back at Corry now as permanent party/staff. He drove down by himself, left 0100 and arrived around 2100, he sounded like he was dead on his feet and was heading to bed. We will have to wait until probably Monday and he gets assigned to his new barracks and reports in to find out what he he will be doing (if he can say). He is supposed to make E4 once he settles into the new unit, he already has 8 mths TIG as E3 since he had has NJROTC time, cant wait to see those stripes replaced by the eagle and rocker.

Hi, My daughter Jill is on the USS Forrest Sherman. She is a CTT3. Jessica is in Denver, CO at Buckley AFB. She is CTR3. Jill was there until a month ago. Jess will be leaving there in one month and heading for Norfolk where she has been assigned to the USS Bulkeley. Jill's ship is also in Norfolk.

Good luck. Let us know how Christmas goes.

We are leaving in the morning for Corry Station to visit my son. We are finally going to have Christmas with him and take him a list of other stuff he wants from home. We saw him for only a few minutes during PIR and that was it. David was just there and gave me some good advice – thanks David.
