Yep, my daughter called real early in boot camp to ask some "odd" questions. I to wanted to ask her many questions and asked her if she was free to talk and she said no, I sensed she was being watched closely and we got straight down to business. The quicker they get the info they need for clearance the faster they can badge up at A school. Some wait for months after arriving at A school to get started. ...........Rick

David, that is exactly how the phone call went with us. I wanted to ask him so many questions but knew I could not. We did get a 20-minute phone call on Christmas Eve. I asked my questions but the reply was for something entirely different. I guess we were all just excited. It’s pretty funny now that I look back on it.

Robert.............That was the only phone call I got from my son while he was at GL. The call went something like this.........Dad, this is business. He then asked for some more names and phone numbers. All in all about a ten minute call for more info. He was nervous and formal as he could be while on the phone..............turns out he was standing in the HQ office with his CPO standing by.

I think it must be normal. We went through the same thing when my son was at GL. They were just collecting additional information for his security clearance.

My daughter has at GL for two weeks as of today. Yesterday, she called home to get phone numbers and addresses for her friends and people who could verify where she lived while attending college. We had to fax the list and information to an office at Great Lakes. Her mother and I had to turn the request around pretty quickly. Is this normal protocol? What else should I expect?

My son is at Pensacola (Corry Station). What rate is your son. If I remember correctly it was less less then a month before he was allowed "very" limited off base priviliges.........basically to and from the WalMart down the road from the gate was as far as he went. I am planning on going down in about 2 weeks to pick him after after C School graduation.

Hello to all, I just got back from PIR and my son is now in Pensacola. He was grad-n-go and got settled in at 3:00 a.m. on Saturday morning. PIR was awesome and even though we only had a short time with him it was well worth it. We were right in front of the big doors and watched the divisions march in as they were announced. That is a sight I will never forget. We will be planning a trip to see him as soon as he can leave the base. Does anybody know how long that will be?

Robert thanks so much for the good information. Its very helpful for those of us that never were in the military. D school would be at Pcola also correct? Is your son in school now?
