My daughter is finally on her way to the fleet today bound for Pearl Harbor and a DDG. It has been a long two years of training and school. It certainly is bittersweet - on one hand she will be on the other side of the world but on the other hand it gives us a great excuse to visit HAWAII!
Just remembering 20 years ago on jan. 17, 1994 we took our son to join the Navy. It was snowing so badthey were going to stay at a hotel but he came home with another sailor. So proud of him for his 20 year anniversary,
my son made CTT3 early spring while on deployment with his ship YEAH! and got is Surface Warfare tab too!!
On high anxiety this week, after 63 weeks of studies, my son will be taking his DLPT. Anxiously awaiting results, very tough program. My thoughts and prayers are with him.
Got word from my sailor son that he made CTT3 this last cycle! proud of all that he is doing :-)
My son is a CTN2..............spent 2+yrs @ P'cola and is now in Maryland.........prob the best deal so far with ctn's islittle if any sea duty unlessthe ask for it.......he works 3-4 12 hour days a week and is off duty the rest of the time.........way better than I had it as a grunt in th 70's
I'm visiting our girl this weekend in P-cola (she is CTT) and she mentioned that today, that the CTN is the toughest school in the Navy. Good Luck to your daughter Eric, and enjoy the journey. We are almost a year into our girls career and she loves it, so proud of her. And thank you George!
Well, I was a CTT and now my son is a CTN and I still don't know what he does, except for the descriptionin the Navy Ratings section. She will get a bunch of college credits for what she learns in "A" school and will will have to study hard...it is now considered the toughest school in the Navy. The top 1% according to the speaker at my son's graduation. Assuming she completes her Bachelors degree during her enlistment, her future is secure job wise. Hope that helps...be proud, it's a great job and she must a smart girl.
