Does anyone else have a son or daughter that was evacuated due to the hurricane that is having a problem getting meals?

Thanks, Jim, for  your  response.  My son actually was notified on Monday that he will start his assignment next week.  They haven't told him what he will be doing yet.  He enjoys the Navy and has just moved off base into an apartment with a buddy, so things are looking up for him.  Appreciate your comments.

Richard B - my son is also a CTN at the puzzle palace.  He waited a long time for a job assignment but i don't recall it being more than around 6 months.  They have really loaded up the CTN ranks.  I know the advance rate has slowed dramatically because of the number of sailors now in this rating.  My sons job now involves mostly civilians but I don't have a clue what he does...nor do I really want to know.  He is closing in on the midpoint of his 6 year enlistment....doesn't seem possible.

My son got his ESWS while out on RIMPAC. I am so proud of him.

Yep, that was a CTT's job for knowing that ship was there. . It's part of naval navigation and safety.

Craig:

The USS Greeneville, was that the sub that rammed the Japenesse fishing boat while surfacing?  Would that be a CTT issue?

no1 - What's scary about CTT is they are the keyplayers in recent Navy  accidents.  Look at the USS Stark, USS Greeneville, and others.  After the USS Stark missile hit, the Navy decides to update the CTT's gear.  It's a sad way to figure out you need to throw money at a problem. (ie after the fact).

Richard - That is really weird.  I'll find out (maybe).  It shouldn't take that long....  btw:  Are you saying he has his clearance or his access?

Craig:

Training video's don't you just love them.  I hope that it meant that it will do the job.  I sure got lost.

My son was originally an EW, now a CTT.  He told me once that if anybody ever saw him jump overboard that they should follow him because he missed the incoming target.  HaHa

Craig--Yes, he has had his clearance for some time, and has been in holding serving on Color and Honor Guard. He recently completed several additional classes, but has been sent back to holding. Is this typical?

Being a 6yo she will be going to a ship.   It's kind of an tradition on ships to have the newbie push the button that launches the chaff during an exercise.  It cool to be the one "driving the bus".....
