My son John is sure proud of it(Nimitz model). They put a little sign on it saying it was donated by him, so a little piece of his Navy history will always be there. I thought it was really cool that the Chiefs and MTI's did that for him.

That is so cool! Think of how many people are going to walk past that and say, "Wow!"

The brass is not as tough as I thought it was going to be. Just remember it's hard to paint the insides of things once they are glued together. LOL. I made that mistake on my Spruance tower.

Sorry, haven't checked for a while, but it looks good. I got a brass kit when I was in P-cola for the Missouri..not sure when I'll get it started. I've never done brass etching, so this will be a new experience for me.. Attaching a picture of the Nimitz in it's new home at the barracks in Pensacola NAS..you can see the "old" Nimitz it replaced on the lower shelf. The staff at the barracks were thrilled to get the newer, larger

Just a quick update, I My USS North Carolina has been put on hold until my Photo Etched parts come in. The got sent to California instead of Ohio.

I have spent a lot of time thinking about how to display her, and I have decided to put her at anchor, with her motor whale boats and a Kingfisher in the water. I have about five hours on the one Kingfisher, and last night I set it on the water of the Spruance display to get a picture.

It still needs a dull coat, and decals, but I think it looks OK.

I always wanted to make a coffee table out of an N-scale steamer, but that's going to happen way down the road. As for now I'm just happy detailing plastic.

I'm on hold with the BB until I get the brass. You're going to like the Missouri. I've heard it's a great model. I chose the North Carolina because I visit it every year on vacation.

As for being a professional model builder, notice I didn't add any close ups. LOL.

WOW!!! I'm impressed! Hey....we shouldn't allow professional model builders on this group...LOL! Very good work Mark. Are you model railroader? I am also building a 1/350 BB this winter. I bought a Tamiya Missouri a few years back and left it un-opened. Glad I did, the prices are unreal compared to what I paid. I'm told the "old" model is identical to what is currently on the self. I'm going to use the etching as well. I'll be glad to follow your lead on your blogspot.

You must have been posting while I was, I have to say, your paint job is fantastic! Very cleanly done. Are you going to start another one?

That Blog web page is

It's going to be some dry reading, but I'm going to have a bunch of pictures with it. I just don't like how I can't post it oldest first like a book.

I just started a 1/350 scale USS North Carolina! I'm figuring it's going to take me better part of the winter to build that one. I'm going to concentrate on details.

Today I scraped off the anchor chain. I'm going to find some craft store necklace chain to replace it with. I also ordered the Photo Etched detail parts for it. I now have to wait for them before I can continue.

I'm going to write a Blog while I'm building it.
