I took a few shots of the Spruance I just finished. I should have spent more time on the seams, but it was the water that I was attempting. This is the first time I made a ship in the water. I would highly recommend trying it.

ok, I have a couple more pics. The 1/500 scale was easier in some respects, but more detail was in the model than I

first realized and it was tough on an old man's fat little fingers to do some it it ..LOL.

Very Nice!! How about more pictures. I did a USS Ranger in 1/700th, and it was tough to get the detail I wanted. How was the 1/500th, because this looks good.

My attempt at model building after many years since I built one. 1/500 scale USS Nimitz.

Hi everyone. My son just left for BC the other day, and I thought once he is stationed on a ship I would build it for him. Since he has BC, A and C school, I would have some time for practice. The other day I picked up a Spruance destroyer kit as a warm-up. So far I am very happy with the detail of the 1/700 scale. I will start taking pictures if anyone is interested.
I have found that 1/700 scale has more to choose from, but 1/350 has a tone more detail, but with a hefty price tag. Anyhow I plan on trying to mount this one to a board that looks like it's in the water. I never did that before, so I am very excited. I have a high bar to work for with that carrier model. Very Nicely done. How about a picture with the stickers.

Yes indeed. Unfortunately, hobby shops that carry a good selection of models are pretty much a limited thing any more. The closest one to me is 30 minutes away and that is Hobby Lobby.

Kevin I love the M-1, I had one just like it passed on to me until a thief that robbed my house decided to take my gun collection. You have a very nice collection.

Do they have to be USN toys, or will military issue do??

I was looking at military model kits at Hobby Lobby a couple weekends ago. I noticed that there were quite a few different scales for ships (1:700, 1:1000, etc). I would like to pick a scale that is most common so if I build more than one the sizes will be comparable in scale.

I noticed tanks, jeeps, etc were all 1:35 or 1:40 with the vast majority being 1:35. They had an M2A2 Bradley half off and some modern infantry so I picked them up.

Terry it came out looking great. The bar has been set pretty high in my opinion. Go Ahead! put 76 on it.
