Is this board dead?

Our son just completed his first week of C school in Norfolk, and am happy to say he is very happy!  He was really ready to get out of Great Lakes;  his instructors there in A school told him to "bear with it", and things would be much better no matter where he went, and so far that seems to certainly be true.  His school is much more challenging, but the 'mickey-mouse' stuff out side of school is gone.   It's "work hard and take care of business, and we'll leave you alone so you can".  Again, he is very happy with C school!

John is officially done with c school now.  My wife and I are taking a 9 day trip out to San Diego next week to visit John.  Neither of us has ever been to California and are pretty excited to finally see the west coast.  What really has us revved up is that we are going to be able to take a day cruise on the USS Kidd DDG 100.  Wow!  Counting the days till we leave.

Congrads to your son Matt.  John is home on leave for 2 weeks right now before they deploy in July.  Really nice to have him home again.  I guess at this point I should bow out of this thread.  I will still be monitoring though.

Larry My son Trevor has been in the fleet for a year and a half now but he is stationed in san Diego Also. He is on the Rentz FFG-46. he will be here this weekend as they are leaving for deployment early in May.

Sounds like John has had a whirlwind time RTC to Norfolk to San Diego.

Driving for us is out of the question.  I would be interested in where she stayed, prices and all the rest as we are going to try to get a few days out there this summer.   John called on Monday night to say they were going to sea for a "few" days.  He sounded really excited.  Can't wait to talk to him when he gets back.

I need a month or so to recover from the feeding fest that took place when he was home.  My wife tried to make up for all the time he was gone!  I think we both gained 5 lbs....

John is in San Diego now after coming home for a week.  1 more month of school then on to the ship for deployment this summer.  What a ride this has been.
