Hey Glenn, My pleasure to "meet" another GM parent. Yea Brett was in 833 but has since moved. I don't know which ship he is in yet. He and Danny must be in the same class/ship. Brett said they moved all the GM's to this building. His orders also said mid June but that is all a wash now according to time lines the instructors have laid out. Brett said he will take it week by week and wait for definitive answers instead guessing. I will have Brett look Danny up and maybe between the two of them we can get some concrete answers. Keep in Touch. Bill Sick

Bill - I'm guessing our sons are in the same stage. Danny PIRd on 2 Jan 09 and he is in SCC now. He's in Ship 833, Dewey Ave address in GL - not sure what ship that is. I'm guessing he and your son may well end up in the same A school class. I'll ask Danny if he's met him. Danny's original post-PIR orders indicated estimated completion of A school on or around June 17 I think but I believe that's a pretty fluid date. gh

Bill, my name is Gary Twardowski, my son Nicholas is starting his third week of basic on Monday 02/02/09. I was very happy to find someone else with a son in the GM field. Your post was a wealth of information to me and with your consent I would like to pass it on to my son. I know your son is an important part of your life and would ask that I may borrow some of his future experiences to pass on to my son Nick. I will be looking forward to future comments from you. Hopefully as NAVY DADS grows so will the group GM.

Hello fellow GM parents. It will be interesting to compare our sailors progression here. My name is Bill and my son Brett did his PIR on Jan. 9th He was INDOC until Jan.27th and has started SCC for 11 business days. He had to move to another ship the Mon. before classes started. Class times are from 4pm to either 12 or 1am. When complete he has to move again and will be on hold from anywhere between 1 to 4 weeks before the next class session starts. He may have to move a total 4 times but is hoping to keep it to 3. So if you sailor has a lot of stuff and can not carry all of it in one move they MUST leave it behind. My son is going to mail a bunch of stuff home so he can manage his things in one trip. His old roommate is looking after his things until he can mail it home. His GM ATT should start the 1st part of March and A school the 1st part of May. He has been told by his superiors that GM graduation should be just before the end of July. So if anyone has any other info I would love to hear from you. Godspeed to our sailors. Bill

Hello all who have sons or daughters who will be GM's. It appears I am the only one here and here is where I will remain. Hopefully others will find this group. My son will be starting his 3rd week of basic and hopefully PIR 03/13/09. Then on to GM school. He is currently in Div 115 Ship 14 USS ARIZONA.

Our son Danny is two weeks into boot camp, then heading for GM A school in Great Lakes. Looking forward to learning more about this rating and training. gh

Greetings, just heard from Luke last night. He completed SCC and just started GM ATT, which should take 4-6 weeks.
