Hi Guys, checking in and updating and looking for info. It has been a busy week for Brett during underway. Started the week qualing for DC. Passed. Had to qual on the M-16. He was top qualifier so he now has to coach and supervise all qualifying M-16 exercises. His Chief selected him to serve on SBS duty and his Master Chief assigned him to qualify for VBSS duty. Along with his regular duty on VLS, Brett said his head is spinning with all the added duties but finds it exciting and said it helps the time go by quicker. He said he has no time to think about being away from his wife and daughter.
Any body else have their Sailor get this kind of added duty. Seems a bit much to me. I am wondering if this is the norm. I will check in and update soon. Godspeed to our Sailors.

Well it is 22/June 2010, Nick has been in Hawaii for over 1 month. He is loving the weather. He informed me this past week-end that he had been selected to attend his second C-School in San Diego. He is scheduled to attend class for the 5 inch gun. Class is scheduled for one month in San Diego. Nick is looking forward to returning there to renew his friendships with sailors he met during V.L.S. C-School. Gary T.

Thanks for the info Bill. Nick is on the ship but has been spending nights with a friend and his wife. They have been great to Nick and are having him stay with them til he gets settled. Gary T.

Family cruise out of Norfolk this year. INCREDIBLE!!! I am amazed at how "tight" everything was. There is no equal to our Navy!! The Captain told me that nearly every ship does the family cruise. Check with your sailors command to get the Omnbudsman's contact info. They will give the info for the comings and goings of the ship and the cruise. Drop a line if you need info on how to contact them. GO NAVY HOOYAA!!!!

Good to hear from you again Dean! Glad to hear Devin is doing well. I think we all need to stay in touch now that our sailors are with the fleet. Nick surely does love San Diego. The V.L.S. C-School was great. Nick made many many friends in San Diego. Hawaii should be just as nice. I will be in San Diego on the 2nd of June. I am picking up my sons car and driving it home by way of Las Vegas. Keep in touch. Gary T.

Havent posted in along time so I thought I would update.. I am Dean and my son is Devin. He is a gmsa on the Uss Sterett in San Diego. He was scheduled for VLS c school in June but they are to be deployed in July and it was decided that he will attend the c school after deployment which will be March. He has been under way a number of times and enjoys most every aspect of life aboard a destroyer. He has eperienced a port call in Canada, several live fire exercises will under way, underway replenishment and has gotten to know his his shipmates pretty well. He will be home for prre deployment liberty at the end of the month and will be able to attend his younger brothers hs graduation. We will love the time home but dread the nine months of limited communication in the future! I hope everyone is doing well and will try to stay connectewith this group.

Nick has his C-School graduation today. He flies to Hawaii on Wednesday morning. I know he will have I.N.D.O.C. once he arrives. Don't know when he reports to his ship the U.S.S. Lake Erie. I do know his excitement is growing. Ken, sorry you missed the family cruise. Maybe next year! Gary T.

Cody reported to his ship, CVN77 Saturday afternoon. They had a Family Cruise on May 1 so we missed that. He is super excited about the ship and getting on with his job in the fleet. His first text to me when he saw his ship was "Oh my god, it's huge!"

Bill don't forget to fill us in about the cruise. Take what pictures are allowed. Have fun and most of all enjoy your time with Brett. Gary T.
