Kevin, glad to make your acquaintance. Congratulations to your son Luke. I am sure you have read the threads, my son is finally moving on to his C-School. Hopefully someday he will achieve Luke's milestone. Again thanks for dropping by Kevin. Did Luke attend a C-School, which one and for how long. I am currently trying to find out info about San Diego. Been a while since I last reported, but Luke promoted to GM3 just in time for Christmas... he enlisted in May, 2008 so he's doing pretty well!

Well my son will finally be leaving Great Lakes this Thursday 14 Jan 2010. It was a bit touch and go on Friday the 8th. During his final dental check they detected his blood pressure to be too high and sent him to medical. They checked it several more time made an evaluation and told him to return on this Monday. Good news is his blood pressure went down but they lost his medical records. Not to fear the NAVY will get him a new set by Wednesday. Total time on Great Lakes 1 year and 1 day.

Nick will be home for two more weeks. One week will be working with his recruiter (RAP duty). He is planning on leaving the following week. He and I will be driving to San Diego. He is to be there no earlier then the 30th and no later then the 31st. Should be an exciting road trip, just Nick and dad. Dad will have to return to San Diego in May to drive Nicks car home. Oh well just part of being a parent.

Once C-School starts I should have some new info ref: life after A-School. Take care all. Your friend and NAVY DAD forever, Gary T.

Well - the boy is enroute to the Middle East on his first deployment. He called from Ireland on a layover. He told my wife the US-UK leg wasn't bad cause they let him and a couple other guys sit in first class on the chartered commercial airliner - he worked a detail loading the baggage and they rewarded them with 1st class seats - while some officers had to sit in coach. How cool is that? We won't see him now for 6-8 months....thank God for Facebook and Skype.

Dean the best to you and your family. Congratulations on your sons choice of schools and assignment. I am sure he will have a better idea of the time lines when he receives his hard copy orders. Nick waited for over a month before he received his personal orders over the computer on Nov 6th. He has been on hold since then and is scheduled for school in Feb. I sure hope your son moves more quickly then Nick. Who knows, maybe thinks will change after the holidays. Gary T.

Glen the best to you, your family and son. Have a happy holiday and a better new year. I will be driving to San Diego with Nick in January. Trying to plan a safe winter route from Illinois. Gary T.

Our son pulled orders last week. He will be attending VLS C school in San Diego and then be aboard the USS Sterett DDG 104. A brand new guided missle destroyer. He is excited to have orders and is anxious to get out of GL and move ahead with his career. I am sure he will have a long hold at GL it sounds like that is common. He will home this Friday so we are pleased. No telling when we will have him home for another holiday. Everyone have a safe and happy holiday!!

Probably come home for two more weeks. He is to report for C-School in San Diego on 31 Jan 2010. V.L.S. class starts 01 Feb 2010 then on to Hi in May. Gary T.
