Sorry Tim I meant to say Steve seeing his son during the holidays, and sorry your son wasn't able to make it home. I only spet one Christmas underway while I was in and it wasn't the same as being home.

Thanks for the warm welcome, it's the only thing warm in Indiana at the moment.Hopin' the cold freezes the lakes as I recieved some ice fishing gear for Christmas and have never been ice fishing. So far Indiana has treated us good. I was transfered to Marion with my job, and my wife was able to find a job. Glad you were able to see your son this holiday season Tim. Our son was away for the second Christmas in 3 yrs. We haven't seen him since Christmas 2010, but he is supposed to come home in July, and is due to transfer out of Guam this December. He is currently assigned to one of the busyest dive lockers in the Navy, and is leaving for Singapore and then Bahrain for a while. Thank goodness for Skype. We are also hoping for an east coast assignment when he reups in a couple months, but he is hoping for Rota, Spain or somewhere where the water is warm.

Tom, welcome aboard. It is a cold day in NE (Ft. Wayne) INdiana today! My son is underway on USS Momsen, just left Kuala Lumpur on his way to N. Africa/Arabian Sea (7th Fleet AOR) with the Lincoln Carrier Group. This is his second Christmas on deployment....and maybe the last! His next assignment will be land based...hopefully on the East Coast.

Tom, as another transplanted Buckeye welcome aboard. Indiana is a good place. My son made it back from Afghanistan right after the holidays so we were blessed in many ways. Shipping him back to his stateside battalion tomorrow.

So, Tom, are you interested in starting a packing party?  You could even whip one up for the Super Bowl--only takes a couple of people with a heart to pack.  We only (ha ha) have a group of 2700 we are doing this month through Molly's Adopt a Sailor.  Look us up on facebook or at www.mollysadoptasailor.com   Your Butler fan, Carol

Have not been on Navy Dads in a while. Moved to Indiana with my job, and am a Buckeye till death but figured if ya can't beat 'em, join em. Son is a ND2 stationed in Guam on the USS Frank Cable AS40. Myself, and my wife were also in the Navy. I was a BM2 and she was a DP2. Looks like you are alot more active than the Ohio Dads group so hopefully we will be able to make it to some of your packing parties.

A Happy Holidays wish to all  Hoosier Mom's and Dads. May your sons and daughters be safe and return home soon. Where ever they are deployed I wish them a safe return and I thank them all for their service.

First, I meant and Bev--up till 3 am finishing a series of books I've been reading all summer long.  Back up at 5:45 for church.  Brain a little sleepy.

Hadn't even meant big project--just thinking halftimes in our homes.  But, you open up a whole new possibility!!!

I'm waiting for Jim and Barb to start Notre Dame packing parties at their house.
