I agree and sometimes the small ones are better, you get a better chance to talk and get to know others and remember why you are packing
It only takes two to hold a packing party. Get together over a cup of coffee or have a football half-time packing party. The Pepsi grants are over for shipping, but I have held packing parties in the backs of restaurants--and then every one just takes 1-3 boxes with them to ship. I can whip up a party in less than a week if people are interested. Let me know if you have any questions anytime.
Wow, what a great way to get connected with our fleet Sailors. Keep em coming, and when is the next party?
Indiana--this one's for you. Thank you # 5. This has NEVER happened before! We can go months without hearing from anyone, and you have gotten thank you # 5!!! I'm amazed and ....well, amazed. Here you go:
My name is AEAN Matt Rxxxxx. I am currently deployed on board the USS George H. W. Bush. Ever since I learned of the Molly’s Adopt a Sailor Program, I have been a huge fan. I just want y’all to know that you didn’t adopt just one sailor. You and your family brightened the lives and boosted the moral of an entire shop full of Aviation Electricians and Trouble Shooters. That’s right, with one box, you brought smiles to the faces of fifteen different people.
I read that your son went to boot camp in June of 08. I went to boot camp at the exact same time. I graduated in August of 08 and went to A school in Pensacola, FL and C school in Oceana, VA. I meet my wife while in C school. She is from Virginia Beach and teaches first grade. Isn’t that cute! Now, being from South Georgia, I was taught to always be honest and to appreciate the little things in life. So, honestly, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Sincerely,
AEAN Matt Rxxxxx
Whooop Whooooooop! You guys were amazing. And, never have we had this many thank yous. Here's # 4 that came today. :)
Hello,
My name is Alex Hxxxxxxxxx, I am with VAQ-141 on deployment. I just wanted to share my appreciation for all you are doing for my follow sailors and I. We all are grateful for all your support and we hope to be home soon with our families! Again thank you and God bless you!
Note # 3
Families,
As a shop we would like to extend our extreme gratitude for what you and your group did on our behalf. My name is Jason Gxxxxx I am from Edinboro Pennsylvania , I am currently attached to VAQ-141 we are the Shodowhawks we fly the new EA-18 G Growler the newest airplane in the fleet we are the first shipboard deployed Growler squadron, our permanent duty station is Whidbey Island, Washington. We are currently forward deployed on the USS George H.W. Bush the newest carrier in the fleet. Now that I have given you the details of where your packages have made it to. We received 3 packages to our line shack which houses the most junior personnel in the squadron. So your packages have meant a little extra to those who this is there first time away from home. Packages always brighten a day because the days out here launching and recovering jets tend to feel like ground hog day. I am sure you will receive more thank you emails from more of our guys and ladies. But I wanted to be the first to say thank you on all there behalves, and to let you know that what you guys do for morale is just as important as what we do out here.
Thanks Again,
ADAN Gxxxxx
P.S. We attached a few photos one is of AOAN Blonski with 2 of our pilots and the other is of me on the flight deck just so you could see who you reached.
Note # 2 from Indiana packing party
Hello,
I am stationed on board CVN 77 and deployed. I wanted to say thank you for the care package and the letter. My mother likes to keep in touch with other navy Mom’s and her E-Mail address is xxxxxxxxxxx if you are interested.
Thanks again,
John
One of the letters for all the Indiana families who packed love in August.
Mrs. P,
I am writing on behalf of our entire squadron to say thank you for the care package that you sent us, as well as the other packages that you and your group sent out across the world. You have no idea the sense of exhilaration it gives us opening up boxes filled with unknown deliciousnesses! I know that isn’t a word, but I thought it was appropriate.
A little about myself, I am a PR3 (Aircrew Survival Equipmentman) in VAQ-141 located out of Whidbey Island, WA. Are you familiar with the WA area? My wife and I were only there for about a month before I was shipped out on this deployment, but from what I did get to see, it is pretty amazing. I can’t wait to be back on land wherever it may be though! I have no geographical discrimination at this point! My wife and I also have two adopted puppies; Ryan is a Boxer she rescued from Fort Hood after he had been struck by a car, and Lola is a German shepherd mix that I fell in love with in Austin, TX. I miss them so much!
Well, I had better wrap it up now and get to work, but thank you so much for taking the time out to help us while we are out in the middle of the ocean. Stay safe on all your travels-it sounds like you are going to be out and about a lot in the next year or so. Drive carefully and don’t forget that you have made your sailors happy and helped to lift our spirits. I hope that you all understand how much this means to us.
Thank you,
PR3 Daniel CXXXXXXX
Waiting...
Get your happy tissues ready. As soon as I get back from my chiropractor appointment there are not one, not two, but THREE thank you's from those who got our Indiana boxes through Molly's Adopt a Sailor. I'll get a copy to you (with the names redacted for OSPEC) and share :)
