Information

Intelligence Specialists

Intelligence Specialists assist in every phase of the planning, collection, processing, analysis, and dissemination of intelligence information. They assemble and analyze multi-source operational intelligence in support of all warfare areas, assist in support of intelligence briefings, reporting, and analytical programs.

Intelligence Specialists prepare and present intelligence briefings, as well as, prepare material for use in mission planning. They prepare graphics (annotated photographs, plot sheets, mosaics, overlays, etc.), and plot and prepare multi-sensor imagery. ISs draft intelligence reports, and provide input to and receive data from computerized intelligence systems from both ashore and afloat. ISs also maintain the intelligence files (photographs, maps, charts, photographic interpretation keys, etc.) and libraries.

Once sailors are done with "A" school, they are required to complete "C" school (specialty or technical school).  There are 5 different schools and as far as I know (I could be wrong) they don't get…Continue

Jim, my wife is the one sending packages to my daughter at least once a month.  All kind of goodies..lol.  Hey so Mike wants to continue serving in Japan?  Have you been in Japan already?  My daughter wanted to go to Europe (England as first option), and I hated the idea but willing to support her decision 100%.  But got chosen for VA for 2 yrs..uhff what a relief for me.  She's now due for promotion next month..E-3.  I'm going to check out that Care Packages group.  Hey if you vids or pics about IS to share, you know this is the place..lol

Take care!

check out our Care Packages group for care package ideas.....

Gil, being Mike is on a carrier and gone for months at a time, I send him things such as single serve mac & cheese, non refriferated meals that can be microwaved, popcorn and the usual garbage all young people (and some of us old folks) like. Problem is, it can take up to a month for them to get it as they have to wait for a replentiment at sea. There is also a group called "Blue Star moms" that send packages to military personal overseas and aboard ships. Mike has received a package from them. They also accept donations. Think about how to keep the moral of your sailor up.

Hey David..welcome to the IS Group!!  Jim is right about the "care packages"  It get's hard sometimes for our children..they get home sick every now and then.  I remember my days in the Army..every time that I got a letter or box from home, it renew my spirit!!  At least now we have cell phone, text and skype..lol..but still, it can get tough for them!

Let us know if you have questions about "A" school at Dam Neck.

Jim..thanks for your post.

Hello David. I'm Jim and my son Mike is an IS3 on the George Washington based in Japan. Right now they are underway, but he loves Japan. While underway our sailors need "care packages" of goodies to help them along. Keep in touch and feel free to ask anything you like,

                     Jim

Thanks Gil for the invite.  I liked using the Boot Camp Group, so I'm sure the IS group will be no different!!  My son Matt just PIR'd on 9/23 so is off to "A" school.  Just getting started in new lingo, so I'll have to keep watch here on the site and try to keep up!!

I found this document online by Vise Admiral David J Dorsett, title "The Art of Success in Naval Intelligence".  It is worth to read it, a lot of good advices from someone who spend most of his career in the Intelligence Community. Share this information with yours IS
sons and daughters to help them to become better Intelligence Specialists.

Finally after so many months of training, my daughter Sherley began this past Monday her duties as a Navy Intelligence Specialist.  I'm so proud of her!!!  Hooyah!

Today was my daughter's graduation from "C" school. I can't describe how proud I am of her. A thousand words together can't describe this feeling. I praise God for this day and many more to come, He has been with her every day. She is a good example of someone with a good determination, a strong will and a good sense of knowing what's best for her future. I know that she will lead the way for others to follow. BRAVO-ZULU to you Sherley and HOOYAH!!!
