My Son is going to Sas ebo, Japen for his first port he is an HT. He just finished A school today 10/19/09. He has to processe out, get his over seas shots, he said he might be held for one, to four weeks, waiting for his written orders. So I'm hopen he will be held the four weeks, because he will get 30 days before he heads to his port, so we can have him for Christmas. The way this thing is going MOMs not happy.

There is a great photo of the GW Carrier group in the Yellow Sea on the main Navy web site. Check it out.

Hello, back from my trip to Japan and Hong Kong. Final pics are up, plus a video of the test drop of a torpedo from their Helo during the previous tour. What an awesome time! Plus getting to speak with the Chiefs, was inspirational while meeting all the AW's for a gathering to honor them from both squadrons stationed at Atsugi Airbase. They appreciated a father there showing support from back home to all of them. I can't tell you what an awesome night that was!

MARK/CORA; You were talking about food coming up missing that you've sent your Sailor.... Awhile back my bf/Jonis' godmother/her dgtr/3 & 4 y/o grandbabies & myself baked 4 diffrent type of cookies & sent 4 HUGE/filled freezer baggies full.... I was talking to Jonis awhile later & asked him how many baggies of the 16 that I had sent did he have left.... Longer story short he argued w/me that there were only 12 baggies & 3 type of cookies that I was mistaken about how many I had baked/sent... I told him I KNEW how many we had baked & sent.... Anyway; soooooo somewhere between Central TX & Yokosuka, Japan; SOMEONE TOOK SOME OF MY SAILOR'S COOKIES.....

My son just passed his orals today for his 4th pin in 5 years. He now is packing to head to OCS in two weeks. What a ride he is having with the Navy.

Yes, we missed it. The GW left I think on Monday and Garrett as the only AW with PC qualification was asked to launch all the Helo's from Atsugi to fly onto the GW after it got out to sea. Then Garrett was honored with being hand picked as one of four AW's to go on the USS Cowpens to serve the single Helo and fly on as it departed earlier than the scheduled 10/7 original date due to the typhoon that was coming. This assignment will give him many more flights and opportunities to complete various quals than he would have sharing the flights as a part of the many AW's on the GW. He told me how much he is looking forward to the challenges placed before him, and his two Chiefs told me of their complete confidence they have in him, which is all a father could hope to hear! I pray for those in the fleet out to sea trying to navigate around this Typhoon, and also for those on our bases left behind to face the rath of its fury. May there be no losses of lives or property.
