Wow, what an awesome opportunity for them! A memory to last a lifetime for them I am sure. I am sure you can't wait to hear all about it.

An extraordinary thing happend today. I had a trip planed to Hong Kong with my MBA class starting Oct 3, but today Garrett called to say the GW will be slightly delayed in departing for their next tour until after that date now, which can allow for me to re-route to get out and see him in Japan before they leave!! This is unbelievable how God works things to His purpose. I previously checked and no flights were available when needed yet today one seat became available on one of those rare frequent flyer slots. I can't wait now to leave 9/30 and see him 10/1 for two and a half days! It dosen't get much better than this!

Finally spoke with Garrett via Skype. He told me a day or two before the GW came into port he was part of the crew doing a med evac flight for a potential heart attack victim 2.5 hours to Japan to a hospital. One hour in both batteries failed on the heart monitor/defibulator so if the heart stopped they would have to do CPR for the remaining 1.5 hours! Fortnuately they did have to and arrived safely. Then on the way back they had to climb high over a typhoon between them and the GW with 50 knot neg. gain going into the winds! Finally 15 mins from the carrier they got briefed on what happens on complete shut down due to possible lightning strike damage and possible restart if hit as lightning was all around going from cloud to cloud. No hits, but they were all on edge! Quite the flight!

Been talking to Michael quite often"On Face book believe it or not,My Daughter made me join and there's a little chat thing on there and as long your your both on Face book at the same time you can chat as long as you want it's kind of like instant message. But he's doing great...still working his butt off, but that's OK.There still doing major Ship repair so he'll be cruising Sasebo on his spare time for at least 3 Months.Hope every body's Sailor is doing well.

Just uploaded a pic from the HS-14 squadron from the USS George Washington that Garrett flys with.

Yes, the GW should be back in port soon. They were just doing joint exercises with the Nimitz starting on Aug 30th. I am sure they will have some stories to tell from their first tour!! That would be neat if Garrett met Brookln while out there.

Ya, will do Mark i know he's had one!but i dont know if he liked it or not.I know he has the same opinion as Kevin does as far as the food on the Ship.
Comment by Lee on August 30, 2009 at 7:15pm
I am sure Kevin would like that! He said food on the ship wasn't that good and he said the only real food is off base.

I talked to Kevin briefly last night and has not been off the base since arriving back in Sasebo. He said all he does is work, go the NEX, and sleep. He said he can't wait to get off the base so he can get some "real food" meaning the Sasebo burger...lol

Hoo Yah!!!
Talked to Michael yesterday for like 45 minutes and he's doing awesome the Navy is treating him well, I ask him if he was still happy with his choice and his responce was DAD!! I'm on the other side of the world""Heck ya I'm happy with my choice. What a feeling it was to hear that!.He'll be in "Sasebo" for a couple of months doing ship repair and then he's off to Singapore and then Thailand he thinks. What a lucky Young Man.
