I agree that late hours drinking will always cause issues, it is our sailors traveling for leave etc, that will have to spend additional funds to be near the airport to catch those early morning the departing flights and the late arriving flights/trains etc..
It is a shame that so few can make a hard life for many the saliors away from home even harder.
Our son is here visiting from Yokosuka, so I asked him for a suggestion for you. He said if your son can make a reservation for you on the base the Navy Lodge or the Gateway Inn, do so. I stayed at the Gateway Inn for a month last year and it was clean and reasonable. Both rooms that I stayed in had kitchens, which helps with costs. If you have to stay off base, he said either the Mecure or The New Yokosuka.
Howdy, Leo. We're also going in February, and have been looking at hotels. The Navy Lodge didn't have availability for our dates, but you can check it. It looks like the closest to the base are the Mercure Yokosuka, and the Hotel New Yokosuka. I would look on agoda.com, which had great rates for japanese hotels.
Good Luck
Patrick
know there is a Navy Lodge there: https://www.navy-lodge.com/lodge_page.html?p_lodge_number=4
Im looking to see if anyone has some good info on where to stay in yokosuka japan. My sailor is there and I will hopefully be going to see him in Feb
John,
If he's on a ship, you could contact his ombudsman and ask them to relay to your son that you would like to speak with him.
For future reference, if you both have smart phones, get the Voxer app. It's a free walkie talkie app. You can have real time conversation or leave messages, written or voicemail. It's a big help when our son is just too busy, or is unable to call. We can at least keep in touch that way.
thanks he is stationed on base he is an MA not like him not to try to talk at least one time aweek
anyone know how i would contact my son stationed in yokosuka have not heard from him in sometime has been there since march been about 20 days
Greetings all. It has been quite some time since I have the opportunity to write and/or check in. I hope that this finds all of our Navy family healthy and safe. Much has changed with our son Mike and his Navy career since our last correspondence. After two surgeries in Yokosuka and a year of working at the Naval Hospital there while he heals, the Navy has sent him back stateside to Groton, CT to complete his contract. Of course we are thrilled to have our son 3 hours from home knowing that we will see him more frequently (we hope, lol). That being said, bis Navy career may be winding down and we are not sure what that will mean for him. His success in our Navy has been rapid and we would think that those in power would find a place for someone ov value, just not sure that it works that way anymore. My wife and I continue to send positive vibes to all of our Navy family and we wish you all godspeed, good fortune and great things for you and yours. I will continue to pop in when I can and hope to keep in touch. ~~Brandon
