Japan was my first duty station over 25 yrs ago.....B.Z....Go Navy !!!
Alan, Here is a link to the base website. You or he ay be able to find some help on it. Don't worry too much. They'll understand. http://www.cnic.navy.mil/Sasebo/InstallationGuide/PhoneDirectory/in...
He should try to contact his sponsor if at all possible. Is he being assigned to a ship? If so, you could try to contact their Public Affairs Officer.
My son left yesterday ( 07/01/2012 ) from Atlanta to Sesabo Japan. His flight made an unscheduled stop in Anchorage Al for fuel which made him miss his connecting flight in Tokyo. The airline has put him up in a hotel in Tokyo and he will fly out tomorrow ( a day late ) Problem is he does'nt know who to contact to let them know. Any ideas ?
Hi! I have been so very busy with everyday life I have not had allot of time to spend on here. Work is hectic, and having a pre-teen is crazy. I have missed everyone. I have some exciting news to share! I am leaving Sunday to visit my son for 2 weeks in Sasebo. I will be there when the ship pulls back into port from it's latest underway! I can't wait =) Fishdad, glad your son is OK and I hope you are doing well. Congrats Owen, I know your one proud Dad! Pray for me for safe travels and good weather for my visit and no typhoons!
Congratulations Owen! I'm sure you must be very proud of Cody!!
Got a call from Cody a few weeks back to let us know the he had made E5. Told him congrads and that was not bad for just 17 months in.
We consider it just another notch in his belt. Serving in Japan does offer its fair share of Natural Disaster stories, doesn't it? lol.
As of 3:30 am last night, CFAY is under TCCOR 1.
I am currently Skyping with our son, it's a good sign that we can still Skype. He said that his building is shaking and swaying a good bit, but they still have power. There's alot of wind and things skittering around out there, but it's manageable at this point. They expect to be at TCCOR 1 for another 14 hours or so. Continued prayers appreciated.
CFAY is currently at TCCOR 2, which means that the hurricane is expected to hit within 24 hours. This one looks more serious than most have over the past couple of years. Lots of rain, mudslides, etc...
