Spoke with our son yesterday evening....just a few minutes after the 5.2 earthquake. He said that it was about 30 miles east of Yokosuka. Woke him up from a sound sleep and lasted about a minute. He said it was Gods' way of making sure he wasn't late for work as he had slept in. Lol. Gotta love that outlook!

Bravo Zulu to your son, Michael!  You have every right to be proud, that is quite an accomplishment!

Thank you Mark for the holiday wishes. To all our sailor's and their families, a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday is in order. We are all truly blessed to have each other to share these experiences with.

it's a wait and see for us.  my daughter's contract said 3 yrs. but when she got her written orders they siad 2, so it's up to her CO. it's alot of dancing around....but she gave up all the offers to go to england, germany.......she wants to come back to the states, she's Never been stationed in the states and she's missing nephew and nieces growing up and siplings getting married etc.....also she's not aloowed to date, marry or have kids as long as she's doing what she is now and her clock is ticking and she's getting homesick.....if she didn't advance this would be her first time not to, but she said she really didn't want to.  i think she's thinking about getting out.

congrads to allt hose who advanced, my daughter took the test for E6 but didn't expect to advance, she took it early, only because her CO told her too. she said it'd be good practice for next time and they get points for taking it.  haven't heard but would assume she didn't make it.  i'm sure she passed the test but only like 7% of IS's were advancing anyway.  she's happy where she is, hoping to come back to the states for her next duty station. mama would be So happy!  lol

Cora, she'll be at Yokosuka on board the USS Mc Campbell. She's an E 3 damage controlman fresh out of A school. We are frequent Skype users and I used it extensively when my other daughter was studying in Dublin last semester.
