Very true.
Hey all, I just read on AP that tensions are growing again between South and North Korea and that Russia has called an emergency meeting. Seems that S Korea is scheduled for another one day military excercise and that N Korea is threatening retaliation. Prayers going out to all our loved ones over there, would much prefer a peaceful Xmas.
Thanks Mark!
Another question concerning passports - is there anyway to get one while overseas or does it have to be done here in the States?
JimG & Kenny ... Congrats on your son's deployment to the GW in Japan. It will be a great adventure for them.
I can confirm the Passport concern. My son who is on the GW, does not have nor has he needed a passport. Military ID and orders is all they need to travel back and forth between US and Japan. I think its a good idea to have a Passport. If they were to travel to a foreign country while on leave (vacation), then I would think they would need a passport for this.
Aaron is headed to the GW, as an MM, and I appreciate the prayers and support! Since he has been through advanced training (nearly two years), he is fairly self sufficient and has some contacts there already. When he starts his Indoc, I will have him see if any other sailors from our group are going through with him.
Kenny: Your sailor does not NEED a passport to travel with military ID and orders, but may end up needing one to fly home on leave. It is worth getting one if you have time.
Jim,
We'll be in prayer for Aaron and you guys here at home. Do you know which ship he is assigned to? We'd be happy to have our son try to meet up with him and make him feel welcomed. They'll take very good care of him. We found out that there is a bit of a difference between BC and being out in the fleet. They'll make sure that he's fed, caught up on his sleep and that he has the opportunity to give you a call and let you know that he's arrived.
Aaron ships out for Yokosuka in less than 48 hours...
cell phone? check
car insurance? check
Passport? check
He is ready to go, but I am sure NOT ready to have him go...
Thanks for all who have helped us get ready for his deployment to Japan!
