Does anyone out there have someone serving on the Lassen?

Thank you Brandon S. I hope this South korea and North Korea does not delay him of coming home.....

Understood Lee, totally legitimate feelings. We awoke this morning to see the US GW all over the news as it heads to the island off South Korea. Both my wife and I are concerned as well, but we know that he is surrounded by the biggest and best of everything. We can only hope that things dissipate quickly and that all of our sailors are back to us soon. God speed to them all.

Right now I am experiencing a lot of emotions...anger, fear, frustration. This was an unprovoked attack and while I agree South Korea won't do anything without our support, this is one of those "who knows" situations. I am angry because Kevin was coming home for Christmas for the first time in 2 years and now that may be delayed. I really don't know what to feel at this point....

Yes it does. We have a son stationed aboard the USS GEORGE WASHINGTON. And our other son that is in C School in Lemoore is headed to Japan in March.

Yeah it does Ed, for all of us. We can only be here for them and let them know over and over that we support everything they do. Everything will be fine.

Having someone over there makes it all very personal and a bit unnerving.

The whole North/South Korea issue is a festering mess. The picture is much larger then what we see on CNN or BBC etc. There is much more at stake then just the two combatants and the eventuality probably lies in the lap of China. South Korea will never make a move without our support and we must protect their sovereignty for they are our only reliable ally in the region. The same comparison would be Israel in the Middle East. We need to hope that the super powers can calm things down as no one wins in war, regardless of the participants. God speed to all our loved ones in Japan and aboard the USS GW.

I feel like N Korea needs to have their behind kicked. It has been along time coming.
