Garrett will be saying behind with Det A waiting for the Shiloh or the Cowpens to finish repairs. Garrett will be flying in the Helo escorting the GW out of the harbor and channel to the sea, then fly back to Atsugi. They will do local flights until one of the those two crusiers become available. God speed to the GW and all aboard!

from the expereince f having two sailors on deployments: food ont he carrier tends to be pretty blah....Eric begged me for a local picante sauce to spice things up...I musta sent 20 bottles over his deployment. Had a suggestion on the Care Package group for Old Bay seasoning for the same reason. Sent Kat's department several boxes of nothing but chocolate biscottie from Coscto...Kat said the box was empty within the hour. Most shops have a coffe maker...send some fine ground coffees in different flavors. Crystal Kite and several other companies make drink mixes..open up the small contianer and add to a bottle of water and mix..instant flavored drinks. Jerky...jerky and more jerky. I stopped by a good book store and would get a bunch of magizines...hunting, gun, bike, 4x4, etc.. Always told him to spread them around his shop. Any books I told him to read and then donate to the library on board. Just a few ideas.......read through the Care Package group posts....don;t forget...the flat rate boxes from the postal service are great...you'll need custom forms for these

Hey all. Just found this group. My daughter Alyssa is an AO stationed in Atsugi. She just boarded the GW last night getting ready for her first cruise, of course I didnt slepp much because she was nervous and we sat on skype for a few hours before she left. So just stopping by to say hello because this looks like a nice group here, lots of conversation and activity.

USS Shiloh just arrived back in Japan, I was talking with Garrett on his phone via Skype during the bus ride back to Atsugi. Don't know but I expect the GW is maybe coming in tomorrow.

You need to get a Ship-to-Shore calling card from AT&T. I just ordered 2 cards last week and had them sent directly to my son on the GW. Took about a week and a half to arrive. Below is the link.

Question? What is the best calling card to get for our sailors to use when calling home from the ship?

Cora, I think they all go through these things. Kevin hit his one year anniversary in Japan last week. He hasn't been home since, but is hoping to come in around December or January during holiday stand down. It is hard on to hear our kids are having a rough time, but they are tought United States Sailors! If they made it through boot camp, they can make it through anything! Tell her we are all rooting for her!
