good day all,my son allen is going to be in japan next month.
he will be on the GW and is very excited.
not having him close enough to call and talk to is going tobe a challange for me, but like he told me "i did not join the navy to stay home"
i know he will be fine and well looked after but dad is still dad.

thanks for all the support! I just have to learn to trust his judgement..He does have a level head and thinks things through. It is just so hard to let go. LOL.

Welcome to the site. My son has enjoyed his time in Japan, has been treated well by the Navy and is still very excited to be working and using those skills he learned in A school. On May 27 it will be 1 year since we've been face to face but skype and cell phones shorten the time and distance.

Hey Japan Navy Dads' I would like to be a member here. I have a son going to Sasebo next month. I am the type of Mom who NEEDS TO KNOW and PLAN everthing. This has be a very hard ride for me so far and it hasn't even been a year yet. I hate not know what is happening. Maybe with the wisdom of y'all I can learn to deal better.

Thanks Cora! Looks like Garrett has been given the honor of being on Det Alpha, which means he will be one of only 4 AW's on the USS Cowpens on this tour, so unfortunately he won't be on the GW this time out unless something changes. I'm sure he would have had the opportunity to meet Brooklyn if he did go on the GW, because he is the only AW that has the Plane Captain (PC) qual for HS-14, which I'm sure she knows means he can be on deck supervising movement of the Helo's from landing to their hangers. All the best to Brooklyn returning back safely and tell her we are pround of her efforts on the GW. We are praying Garrett can get leave to come home for his sister's wedding May 22!

Typical of Garrett, I just now have been told, with a pic (uploaded now), of my son getting HS-14's Sailor of the month for Jan. They never think it is as big of a deal as we do I guess. As always, I'm proud of what he does!

Cora, let Brooklyn know we all are glad she is home safe! Enjoy your time together, it will be special for sure. Also let her know us Navy Dads are proud of her and what she is doing!

Don't worry, she'll be on the 6:40 fight I'll bet, if not she would have found a way to get a message to you. Enjoy your time together!
