Good luck to all the Newton, Kansas young men on the USS Abraham Lincoln leaving on deployment this week.

they get an allowance, but is does not cover most uniform costs......the 2012 men's E1-E6 total seabag price is $ 1697.30.  Basic annual replacement allowance is given to members with up to three years on active duty while those who have completed three years of service receive the standard allowance.  Standard replacement allowance is $ 482.40 and basic replacement allowance is $338.40.  From NavyTimes 7 Nov. 2011

Kelly, they get a yearly uniform allowance. Anything else they spend money on (computers, civilian clothes, video games, etc...)
would be on their own dime

QUESTION: My son is about to go on his first deployment and just called to say he had to spend most of his paycheck to load up on clothing and supplies for the next 6 months. Does the Navy provide a clothing allowance or do sailors have to buy all of their work clothing themselves?

Thank you, Robert. You are correct. I believe the trip to Great Lakes will probably be the shortest trip to see her.

Welcome to the group Anthony. One thing for sure about Kansas Dads is , it will be a long trip to see your sailor no matter where their port is.
