Don't worry Mitch. Your time will come sooner than you think. A school is over and the orders are in writting in the blink of an eye. Wait until he gets his orders. Do you have any idea what coast he might be looking for? Justen wanted the East coast. He knew it would be expensive to come home from the West coast. He loves SD. The weather is nice most of the time no snow like in Pa.

You both are making me jealous! I'm still and A School Dad! But I'm still proud and excited!

You guys are going to love the the first cruise. Robert the ports vary some each cruise. It makes it so much fun. Does your so have an email account on ship yet? Did you join the ships web site for family and friends? Does the ship have a facebook site? We have 3 cruises save via emails back and forth. Only value of the emails are to my sailor and I. We speak of ports after visits. And you can tell the story from there. On the RR web site there is an area for family and friends discussion it is called the scuttlebutt. Parents and wives and some husbands too are there. More during underways and cruises. The phone numbers for the care line are listed there also. We(our family and sailor have done 3 cruises. We have had an injury that sent our sailor home from Japan to SD for treatment. Then our latest was re enlistment and RIMPAC. Micronesia, Guam, Thialand, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Hawaii, these are a few of the stops he has made. Some ports are the same each cruise.

I know how you feel Mitch, I so wish I was young enough to be right there with him.

I think that I am probably more excited than my son about everything that is going on!

With deployment coming up soon, my son has really been busy. He loves it and is excited that he finally gets to go out to sea. Cant run a ship without the MMs

This may be what Mitch's son was told about http://www.navytimes.com/news/2010/06/navy_steam_rates_061410w/

The rate is so overmanned for advancement it is difficult to make it. Justen sees the Nukes needed more than conventional MM's yet domr one has to fix washers, dryers, water heaters, scullary equipment ect... When he was near reactor area he did total different job. Did a lot of sample taking and monitoring of fluids. He was on Nuclear response disaster team too, (that was MY least favorite part).
