Justen makes time at least every other day to check on email. His off time is spent in the GYM and with the computer. Not much to do other than college courses and gym. Work takes most of their time.

negative Mitch....and a warning...they have very limited computer time so you may go awhile without e-mails...command also may lock e-mail down for certain reasons...before Karzai visisted the Roosevelt e-mail was locked down due to OPSEC and fear of security violations about his visit...welcome to the military!!!

Do you have his email address? That is how we get to talk almost daily. Sometimes long some times short. Just found it works best.

Justen works 12 on 12 off. Duty section is every 4th day. Sometimes this changes. Working 7 days a week when out at sea. Some times he is on days and that rotates to nights for a period of time also. He has worked 4 hours on and 4 hours off. The best thing to say is he'll find out when he gets there and is assigned a work center.

I was looking on facebook page for HST and on one of the videos, a sailor said they work 16 hours a day. Any idea how their duty schedules work?

My son is in a/c and refrigeration, there are only around 10 people in his shop. There are over 19 thousands tons of a/c and ref on a carrier. He says it is a pretty sweet job. Good trade for him to learn, he grew up in the hardware and plumbing business so a/c will be a great assett to what he already knows.

Justen has been in two different shops. The first was near the nuclear area. He monitored fluids and did samples. Was part of Nuke disaster team. Yellow ducky suits. Now he is in a shop that does a lot of everything. He works on anything that has a motor and needs fixing and then some. Washers, dryers, water heaters, scullary equipment water fountains are a few of the things he has fixed. Also pipes and valves. The run the desalanization plant and the trash processing and disposal. I am sure there are tons more they do but these are the things we have talked about.
