In Memory of
Arthur J. Hubbard, Sr.
Navajo Code Talker, USMC
Arizona State Senator

1912 - 2014

Born in 1912, the same year Arizona became a state, Arthur J. Hubbard, Sr., served during World War II in the Marine Corps as a Navajo Code Talker.

Later, in 1972, he became the first Native American to be elected to the Arizona State Senate where he served with distinction for 12 years. His work contributed to the welfare, education, and health of many Native American Tribes and helped bridged the divide between Native American and non-Native American communities.
