Hey Jim, How is Chris doing? has he left on mission yet? Talked to Sean late last night and he said he would be in Bahrain for a couple of weeks then off to Greece.

Joe - according to my son, Chris, Bahrain is very friendly towards military personnel.  He said that during the Christmas season, they decorated the streets and shops, made them feel welcome and wished everyone a "Merry Christmas" which my son thought was great especially in predominantly Muslim country.  There's also many of the comforts of home for the sailors with a wide variety of familiar restaurants (TGIF's for example) video game stores, etc.  Your son will have no problem spending his money in Bahrain.  :~)

Is your son be MSF or MWD?

Joe, I don't know if I can answer this as well as Jim probably could, While Sean is supposed to be based in Bahrain he really has not spent a lot of time there. from what he has told me its pretty westernized although he told my that Dubi was very western (he was there over Christmas and said the malls and everything like that was all decorated for the season). Jim's son is a dog handler and I believe probably has seen a lot more of Bahrain then my son has.

Shane, my son graduates A school on 02/17. He chose to go to Bahrain for his first assignment. What do you know about the island. I have followed our relationship with them over the years and believe that they are US friendly.

Thanks guys for  the info. My son graduates from NTC on friday and then will do a two duty in Cali. I pretty familiar with the base , we have been there almost every weekend since he started A school. I just didnt know the name of Carter Hall .

Hey Jim, that's kind of funny Sean is finally getting back and Chris is headed out. I know as of last night Sean was really glad to be getting back said it had been a long deployment for them. They saw lots of stuff, were involved in a search and recovery and plenty of scary stuff.

Good to hear from you, Shane. Chris is getting ready for his first deployment, but he doesn't know where yet (or he can't tell me).

Just to let everyone know, my Son, Sean is with MSRON 3 out of Bahrain. He is finally getting back to Bahrain after being deployed since July (they made one stop in Bahrain since he has been on mission) and that was just for a over night deal then they left again. He is not sure how long he will be there before his team heads out again. He had a email address while he was on the present ship so that is how he kept in touch also had a cell phone that he had purchased and he was able to make phone calls when they were in port (mostly somewhere in the UAE). So if anyone has Son's or Daughter's that are joining the mobile security force don't expect them to be in Bahrain very much.  Sean has been a MA now for just over a year.

There's a separate entrance to the NTC, across the street from the Main Entrance.
