Just a quick note to add to what Clemmis said and for John on the MA ceremony. Quite a few family members can go as long as you notify your sailor so he can make all the arrangements with the base. The ceremony was really cool and it didn't last very long...at most 1-1/2 hours. It's more laid back in fact, my son's instructor told us before the ceremony to get rowdy if we wanted to just to have fun with him during the ceremony. After all the grads passed final inspection in their rooms, they were ready to go with their parents or to the airport if they didn't have to stay or wait for their orders. Our son got to come and stay with us in our hotel and we got to take him to the airport the next day, which was a real treat. He was able to come home for a few days and then proposed to his now new wife. What was really cool is that only a few months at the base he was recommended and got his new class up to E-4 which pleased him tremendously! Hope this helps.

Shane - wow that's great. I wish Chris was out to sea so he could bank 10k! I haven't talked to Chris since he did the demo. Hope he got some photos.

Hey Jim, finally talked to Sean the other day he called they had gotten into UAE for about 48 hours and then he was off again. He said that so far he had about 10K in the bank as he has been no where to spend it. I also told him about Chris doing the demo for the King he thought that was really cool, I don't think he has had a chance to talk to anyone in Bahrain in the last couple of months. He hopes to finally get back to Bahrain sometime in Feb.

That all sounds about right. At the very least, you should be able to spend several hours with your sailor (MASN) after the pinning ceremony. I think most will have their orders by the time they graduate and most should get a week or more leave. But, in the greatest tradition of the Navy, you have to be ready for anything.

John, My daughter grads on Friday the 3rd and most grads to date have been around 10:00 in the AM but last week they did not go off until 3:00 in the afternoon. They are smaller and shorter than PIR from Great Lakes, I understand it last around 1-2 hours. Some classes have been able to join their family and leave shortly after grad while others (just a few) have been required to wait almost 24 hours before they could leave. I would ask your child to ask as many questions as possible and keep you up to date. I hope this helps and would ask those that my have additional info to help.

does anyone know anything about specifics on MA graduation, like start time, how many can attend, are they off the rest of the day, or is it grad and go. How long does it take for graduation, do they send a letter to the parents informing us of graduation. Or even class rank

El, Sarah was told yesterday that she would have to return to SA to depart to Guam. Has your son told you the same? Will his wife travel with him to Hawaii?
