Hello to all Navy Dads .been a while since I have been on.Update on our MA3.He has been on Diego garcia for awhile and is doing great. He tells us how good the fishing is among other things .He recently had a reassignment for 30 days and is currently helping out on a sub tender with the MAchief. He e-mailed last nite to tell us he is now offically a shellback. He was hoping this woud have happened on the USS CARL VINSON while he was on it but you know how Uncle Sam is.Hope all familys and sailors are doing well...

Hey Greg - welcome to the group! Congratulations on your sailor getting through boot. You'll find lots of support here, so just post any questions you have. Josh should know pretty soon when he'll "class up". Until then, he'll likely being doing a bunch of odd jobs around the base. ~Jim

Chris - Congrats on the OC. Was he able to send you any photos of it? My son did and it looked brutal! He said he felt like crying like a little girl (but he didn't thank goodness). I don't think that first week counts as part of the 8. Your sailor should know the exact date very soon. If I recall, I found out this graduation date during week 2.

Hello all, My son Nick is currently guarding nukes in Washington, He got orders that he was going to Japan but last week he was told he is going to Nevada instead. He is leaving this week. Does anyone have a son currently stationed there ?

Elbert, my son had thought about doing that (guarding nukes) and of course we had really hoped he would (close to home in WA) but I am really glad he ended up doing the MSF, he wanted to see the world and that is why he went in the Navy. down side is he is not in anyone place very long so we don't hear from him as much as we would like to.

Yes Chris, My son Kris was asked last week if he wanted guard nuke weapons at Washington state or Georgia bases. It will be all shore duty never going on a ship. I think Kris went through OC training last week. He got a little OC in his eyes the week before when he was on the opponents side also.
