sounds like Govt in general. Texted him a bit last night sounded to be in pretty good spirits, turns his cousin who is also in the Navy but on a sub will be in the same area off and on.

just talked to him couple hours ago, thought he was supposed to leave in the morning but I guess it's actually Tuesday, said most of his shipmates were all taking leave and he was just hanging around the base (he took his leave right after MA school) so he was just killing time until next week.

Shane, you bet. We used Skype too. Anything just to keep in touch without getting too annoying!

Terry:

He will be able to skype as soon as he gets set up over there. apparently they have pretty good houseing etc. except when he is out on ships. Also thanks for the kind comments I will pass on and same to you.

Hi, Shane...it will be hard. Will you be able at least to call or even webcam? That's what we did when our son lived & worked in China before he joined the Navy. Take care and please tell your son on my behalf how thankful and proud we are of his service to this great country. May God's hand always be on him and your family.

Well the boy was here for the weekend, really did not get to see him that much as he really wanted to hang out with his friends (two of which are also leaving for the Navy at the end of summer). Anyway was great to see him looks really good and seems so much more grown up. Leaves for overseas next friday. going to be a long two years.

Thanks, guys...will do. We had another great surprise today. My niece's husband, who is a sargeant in the Marines, came over today for dinner. He'll be deploying back to Afghanistan in a couple of weeks. It was great having the Marines and the Navy in the same house breaking bread over Memorial Day weekend. I've never been so proud.

Great news Terry! Have a great weekend with your son. Tell him that all of us Navy dads are proud of him and appreciate his service.
