We got great news today that our son, Justin, was just promoted to MAA-3 (Petty Officer 3rd Class) and will probably have to go to GA for a week or so for more training. Now he's thinking of going OCS so we'll see what happens there. He has the next 4 days off including Memorial Day and we get to see him all weekend long.

Just got off the phone with Sean, he is trying to get a special permission travel to come home next weekend. He was going to come home this weekend but they would not allow him to travel farther then N CA. Otherwise we could not make it work to go to Southern CA before he left.

I think Sean and Chris are heading to the same place. Chris heads over at the end of July. Will you get to see Sean before he ships out?

Good for Chris, Sean is headed overseas on the 5th.

Chris is now Patrol Dog certified. The next 5 weeks is detection training.

Just back at the hotel from the pinning ceremony, pretty cool! The big disappointment for the new MA's is that it has been pouring rain all day and the OC day for the new class was cancelled and they did not get to walk past the newbies & gloat!

The other trick is to go the the exchange and get your shoes or boots shined by the famous shoe guy. Perfect for the daily inspections.

Some of them actually use yogurt if they don't have any baby shampoo. That seems to work pretty good too. My MA son said he'd rather be kicked in the stones every day for a year than to have that done again! Just get through it is his point but do well because your placement or next assignment is tied to this test.

Oh yea the shampoo is for his first Friday OC test, it really works the best.

All I can say to help him along is buy Baby Shampoo, and lots of it. Study hard to get good orders, and shoot straight! My son had a great time and made some friends that now are friends of my wife and I. He will learn a lot from a great group of professional instructors.
