Nadine, I can't reply to the last part of your comment but just to clarify the first part...there is a Bangor, Maine and a Bangor, Washington. The latter is where the Naval submarines are in port in Puget Sound. I'm from Maine and not sure what Bangor has in terms of commands. Good luck.

Thanks, Charles and congrats on the pistol quals for your sailor! Another ribbon! We just might go to the pinning just for the heck of it. Flying out of Seattle to TX isn't that much or take that long.

yes. the "pinning" is open to family and freinds. they an request someone to "pin" them. it is a small cerimony, nothing like PIR. Going in Jan.

Someone wrote regarding the commands such as Bangor Maine, Washington state. Can anyone tell me what and where the commands are? Also, I saw listed a finance class. Is that a personal finance class. My son has promised us to finish his 4 year degree while in the Navy. My husband was wondering when that can begin. Anyone know?

Does anyone know if the pinning ceremony is open to family and friends and has anyone out there been to one for their sailor?

Bob, I had a feeling that was what it was for. Glad to hear your son will be close. Justin still has to get through A-school and get assigned but he's hoping he can get assigned close to home. There are 2-3 places here where he could go; Bremerton, Bangor, or Whidbey Island where the prowlers are stationed. Take care.

Terry, getting "pinned" refers to having the MA badge pinned on during graduation from A-school. Kings Bay is a submarine base in southeast Georgia, just across the state line from Jacksonville, Florida. Mark will be assigned to base security. I look forward to a road trip down there once he gets settled in.

Thanks, Bob for that tip. I just didn't go deep enough. We spoke with Justin again tonight and he's really enjoying himself and likes where he's at even though his training doesn't start until Jan 3. Right now, he and a small group are cleaning up the place getting it ready for an inspection by a visiting Admiral tomorrow. They did such a good job the CPO gave them the day off tomorrow. He liked that! What is your son getting pinned for? Getting classed up? I bet your proud. Good luck to Mark. I'd like to find out more about Kings Bay. Where is that anyway?
