Arnold,
your son will "earn" weekend liberty in a couple weeks. You can visit him on the weekends if you live close enough.

Question?
Is there a formal graduation, like at boot camp?
And what is it like?
Any info appreciated.

I am not sure about the visiting part but I can tell you it goes fast & he will be home in no time. He will get his orders before he leaves Lackland with the date to report to his command. Glad to hear he found his nitch, I know what you mean I felt the same way about my son. Frank

Thanks Frank!

We just received our first phone call in two weeks, guess he was busy.
He sounds like you described, content and having fun, challenged and relaxed. OC today, so he sounded a little nervous. I'm happy to know that my son has found his nitch, couldn't be more proud. Mom would like to go and visit him, not sure if that is possible.

My son got his orders Monday. He will be stationed at Bangor WA. Thats only 4 hrs from me so thats good news.
Classes are going well and he is happy to know where he is going after A school.

Hey Arnie, my son just finished MA training at Lackland on April third. He is home on leave until Friday before reporting to his command in Maryland. From what he told me he enjoyed the experience and the instructors way of training, there are alot of written tests at some points there is a test almost everyday. My son said he liked the firearms & SWAT type training the best. the OC was rough but you get passed it. I put photos in website photo section. It was much more relaxed than boot camp he said he had 3 roommates instead of 50. They also were able to go to places off the base which can break up the monotony a little. I hope this helped a little, good luck to your son & all the sailors serving. Take care, Frank

Hi, My son just graduated from Boot camp and is now in San Antonio, TX. for MA. I only spoke to him briefly, so I know very little about A school and the program. Any information would be helpful.

Thanks,

Arnie
