What's up Dads?....It's been very quiet in here as of late!!!
Welcome, Jennifer! If there is any way that we can assist you...just ask away!
Tim F...A member of my daughter's class dropped after the OC Spray. And she was sent to CS school; with no choice in the matter that I am aware of. With your son being a reservist they might treat the situation slightly different, but I doubt it.
Tom had the best advice for your son. There is a LOT of help available, steer your son towards that assistance! The instructors want their students to pass, and will do a bunch to help them succeed.
Tim...As best I can tell....worst case scenario is he gets optioned to another A School for a designation of their choosing....or sent into the fleet as "undesignated"....placed into a job that they (the Navy) need filled....more info would be very helpful...
What does he need help with....written tests or some of the physical testing (i.e. O.C. Spray and Combat)? If written....join a Study Group....if physical.....Instructors will aid in training him further as needed. They will do everything they can to assist him in succeeding....
on main page, Tim posted this- maybe you guys can help him out:
"Hello,Tim F here. My son, a reservist, is failing A school, Master at Arms. Any idea how Navy directs someone with this difficulty? Thanks"
Hi William,
Do you plan on going to his PIR - Boot Camp Graduation? If so you can bring his phone to him then. Otherwise you might want to follow Paul's advice and wait until he is about 2 weeks in to visit him at A school. Also A school graduation is a great time to visit.
William- until he phases up at school he cannot wear civilian clothes....that usally takes a couple of weeks so you will have some time that he can relay his requirements!
Hey all. Son does not got to Boot Camp until early March so it is reasonable to assume that he will hit A school in May. I am sure he will want some Civvies so when would it be appropriate to send them and how much storage space will he have? I know when I was in A school we had a good sized locker but school was 3 months. Thanks for any input.
Thanks Michael and Tom - we'll stay flexible. If it works out then thats great. If not we'll see him afterwards.
Most military schools break over Christmas or wait to start until after so we'll see what happens. I'd hate to seem him go negative on leave to come home so our thought was to go down there. San Antonio is much nicer in December than Iowa. :-).
I appreciate all of the information.
Rob
