Mike...Caity is back in Norfolk. The merger of MSRON and Riverines is official tomorrow...the birth of RIVRON. We'll see what happens soon!?!

Hey Mike...No worries. You always have a place to stay if you visit Austin. I am sure we will cross paths at some point :)

Devin is loving her training. She is in block 2 now, which focuses on detection. Not as exciting at patrol though...lol Her base is Naval Station Everett. There are a couple of carriers and other ships that call it home. It is just North of Seattle. The Riverwalk is a great place. I am sure you guys had a great visit. I don't see Devin all that much. She is really busy with classes and then wants to hang out with friends, which is understandable. I just want to see her as much as possible before she goes to Wash.

Hey Jon, Been a while. Devin has been doing really well. She is getting a little antsy because she wants to get to her base. She bought herself a big truck. Once training is over, her mom and I are going to drive with her to Washington. Gonna be a long drive! I am happy to hear that Joelle is loving Greece...how could she not. It is beautiful over there. I believe the Abraham Lincoln's home port is Devin's base. That is a nice little link..lol

Joelle is doing well.  Thank you for asking.  She's enjoying the Med Sea and the things to do around town.  She's been bungee jumping, parasailing and tubing.  She's eating some amazing food and making her dad jealous.  She had her first taste of security life when there was a protest outside the gate.  A few thousand people came over from Athens (an annual trip) and burned flags, threw bottles, and painted graffiti outside the gates.  She was on duty so they had to secure the base and provide security escorts for personnel on the base.

The Abraham Lincoln was the newest ship when I got on. I missed being a plankowner by a couple months. We sailed it around South America from VA to CA.  It was a great little cruise but then we went to war with Iraq after they invaded Kuwait so our first West Pac went from a diplomatic show cruise with dozens of stops to a straight trip to the Persian Gulf and back.

Tom - thanks for the congratulations.  Yes, it was a very proud moment and I'm glad I went to it.  How's Caity doing?  Is she still on the Swift or is she a Riverine now?  Where is she stationed at?

Michael, I'm sorry we couldn't connect on my trip to SA but it was a short trip and we left on Saturday at 4 AM because the Navy booked Scott on a 6 AM flight.  So I changed my flight to leave at 8:30 AM.  If I ever get back that way I will give you a call and you do the same if you ever get out here.  How does Devin like the dog training?  What's in Everett WA?  BZ to her for being class leader.  I know you're a proud papa.  I hope some day all of us can meet.  There was only one girl in Scott's class who got to go to MWD training after MA "A" school.  Scott and I walked the Riverwalk last night for miles and had dinner at one of the restaurants.  It was so nice to spend time with him.  Now we're home and he's with his girlfriend.  I'll probably see him again the day he leaves.....LOL  Keep in touch my friend.

Jon, thanks for the congratulations and the tip about how big a carrier is.  I'll let Scott know to leave a trail of M&M's until he knows his way around.  LOL....   How's Joelle doing?  Where is she and what is she doing now.  Does she like it?  My son had a choice of the USS Abraham or the USS Bush.  He choose the Bush because it' the newest and last Nimitz class carrier.

Congratulations Mike!  My first assignment in the Navy was on the USS Abraham Lincoln.  I remember waiting on the pier for it to pull in so that I could check in.  As it was docking, I was thinking, "I can't believe how BIG this thing is!"  They're like a maze inside and I spent the first cruise completely lost.  I have some great memories from those first four years of the Navy.

Michael - I'm not surprised that Devin was named class leader.  She's a sharp girl and I'm sure she's excelling in her training.  Hope you're doing well!

I didn't get your message until last night. Sometimes when I am at work it doesn't show that someone has called. Too much interference. It is really great that he chose you to pin his badge on!! Devin is doing really well. She finishes MWD training around the 6th of Aug. She was just chosen as class leader. Once she graduates she will be going to Everett Wash. Too bad we didn't get to meet up. Hey it's the Navy so who knows where paths will cross!

That is a sweet assignment. He should love it! Please keep us posted.
