She is finishing up her 1st deployment in a couple of months....then off to Lejuene for further training. She has already done Expeditionary Combat School, SRFA School, and Advanced Combat Trauma School. They seem to train all of the time.....that's a good thing! With the formation of RIVRON, I guess this is the next logical step.....kind of wished she had been a clerk....LOL!

Hey Mike, Tom,

Mike - Like Tom said. Make sure you tell Scott at PIR that the really work is about to begin! The harder works at it the better the reward.  That means better choices for a base too. Although nothing is guaranteed. He will love MA School...well maybe not OC spray, but the rest cool. Devin has made some really good friends there. You can look up OC Spray on YouTube to give you an idea.

Tom - Devin going to Afghanistan is one thing, but what Caity is going to do must be nerve wracking! She will have plenty of stories to tell. BZ to her on doing so well!

Tom,  Thanks for the warning aobut the OC spray coming at "A" school.  He's in for a big surprise!  LOL...ouch!

Hey Tom, Yeah I know Michael Baione's daughter Devin is going to MWD after "A"school and then to the Middle East.  WOW, I saw the movie and they are pretty tough cookies.  She wants to play with the big boys hah?  LOL....  Wish her my best.  When does she deploy?

....By the way...it has become a really good and close group here...I think that you will enjoy learning and sharing with us all....Oh....and the OC thing at basic....not even close to what is coming at A School....that's a shot right in the eyes that goes on for hours....

It looks like Michael Baione's daughter might be headed that way after she finishes her Military Working Dog training (MWD)....just one of the way our kids can go. Scott will have a choice of orders when the time comes...but the needs of the Navy take precidence. The better he does in A School, the more choice he will have. If you have seen the beginning of the movie Act of Valor, the Riverines are the ones who come to extract the SEALS....so I am not resting any easier....but if that is what makes her happy....! Scott has alot ahead of him...but for now, count the days to PIR! Are you planning on going to the graduation?

Tom L, Yeah, I saw that I had the wrong name after I hit send...LOL  Thanks for replying with all the info.  I don't know what all the abbreviations mean yet but I will look them up.  It seems like the Navy does a lot of that.  My son (Scott) doesn't know what he wants to specialize in yet.  He has always wanted to be a cop his whole life and that's why he choose MA.  I guess he will find out more when he gets to "A" school.  I really appreciate all your help and info.  It has helped calm me down and stop worrying about my SR.  You must be freaking out about your daughter going to Afghanistan.  I don;t want my son to go there.  I wish her the best. She sounds pretty smart and must be pretty tough too!  I'll keep in touch and you do the same.

...And shame on me....Welcome to our group! You will, no doubt, have many questions as things progress. Our sailors have gone in many directions, so there is always someone with the answers that you seek! Welcome to the Navy family!

Michael Bennet...my name is Tom (not Alan...LOL!). Caity has been in for 1 1/2 years now. She went MSRON out of A School. MSRON is "expeditionary security". Her first deployment was to Rota, Spain, but she ended up on the Swift after only 6 weeks. Since then, she has been traveling all over the place...from the Canary Islands to Central America. MA duties are many...from Base Security, MWD's, Expeditionary, and PRP. Tell your SR to study hard and work harder...that way they will have a bit of say as to future orders. Overall, she likes it....times of interest and days of boredom. Her next assignment will be to the Riverines if all plays out. She will be one of the first females to be assigned to them as they are merging with MSRON....not where I expected my daughter to be...LOL! She is actually trained to lead her own Assualt Team...loved that aspect of it. The opportunities are many...I wish the best of luck to your SR!

Tony, Congratulations to Nick - Bravo Zulu!  When is his PIR?  My SR is in Ship 12 Div 189 and graduating 5/17/13 then on to MA "A" school in San Antonio.  He had OC spary last week.  I'm waiting to hear how it was.  Where is he going next?
