Sorry for the delay in responding Tom, our family lost a very special friend last week, and we've been thrown for a loop. The funeral was yesterday after a very sudden passing. Her name was Dorina DiLullo, and my brother Mike knew her since freshman year in high school. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. She left behind two boys, 3 and 6.

Anyway I am not sure what MSRON Team he is going to. I'll have to ask him. all I know right now is he has to be in Mississippi by the 7th. I'll text him tonight and ask him.

Ray....What MSRON Team is he going to?

I'm right up near your section. Groovy.

Chris is the same way about wearing his uniforms away from his base. And he's not a fan of the dress whites, cuz they get dirty pretty easily.

Since I patrol constantly and I'm almost always on the concourse area behind the seats you should be able to find me easily. Just look for my freshly shaven head, unless I have it under a knit cap!

Thanks Ray, our seats are section 313, row 1!  We will be sure to try and meet up with you before or after the game.  Looks like the direct train gets there at 6.  Not sure about switching trains, we do live in the middle of a corn field here and don't want to get lost!  I'll try to get him to wear a uniform but I haven't seen him in uniform since MA school graduation.  Glad to hear Chris is doing well and looking forward to his new assignment.  Give me a call after the game if we don't get there early enough to see you.  219-689-4995

I'm just flowing forth the words today:

Just wanted to update everyone on my son's comings and goings.

MA3 Norberto, Chris is marking his last day on duty at Norfolk this very day. He's been 'checking out' for the last two weeks, and today is the official final day. He's been allowed to get to the precinct at 7:30 (imagine that! such luxury!) and spends most of the time debriefing, filing the proper paperwork, and he was usually done by noon. I've gotten more daytime texts and calls the last two weeks than all the previous time going back to November 15, 2010 when we dropped him off at the recruiting station to begin the great adventure.

He took his PO2 promotion exam two weeks ago, and prior to that he had received two consecutive EP (early promotion) evaluations. So he's upbeat about that prospect.

He has to report to his C School (approximately 75 miles from New Orleans) for a month of further training. He will get some home time this spring - 30 days - before heading overseas for a one year deployment with his Mobile Security force team. I'm both feel both excitement for him and trepidation for me as this chapter comes to a close.

Another thing regarding the train: the terminus is New Haven, which is about an hour drive from Groton. Less time driving, more time chatting and casual father-son time. And not to worry about return trains. Additional trains are provided 20 to 45 minutes after last pitch, no matter when that comes. And with the potential of rain delays in April a fact of life, that's a big deal.

Where are you staying Jeff? I would recommend the Metro North if you're not tied to a car. The New Haven Line offers direct train service to the Baseball Cathedral. Comfy seats and roomier than the subway. And way WAY cheaper than the lots here, which last year started at 35 and went up to 48 bucks and more.

Otherwise, get here between 4 and 5 pm and you'll have a better chance of getting a spot.

I'm now the Supervisor in the 300 section, in charge of the Jim Beam seating, a new development up there behind the home plate area (sections 317-322) as well as sections 417-422. If you get there when the gates open drop on up for a quick visit before it gets crazy.

Also, (we're not authorized to tell this to anyone but) when you get here, first thing to do is drop by the ticket window located outside Gate 4 and ask for a ticket upgrade, making sure to have your son ask, and show his DoD identification. It also wouldn't hurt if he dressed in his dress whites or peanut butters...but you didn't hear that from me...Metro North Train to the Game schedules

hey Ray....I'm flying out to Groton April 4 to take Ty to the Yankee's Red Sox game that night!  Any suggestions for parking, etc?  He is coming home for 10 days after that before deployment to Afghanistan. Hoping to have an epic time at the game!

She is getting a taste of life at sea. She was only in Rota for about 6 weeks. She is Expeditionary Security and ended up assigned to the HSV Swift for Southern Partnership Station 2013. She will visit 5 countries over the course of her deployment. As they said at PIR...."Go see the world"...LOL!
