Sorry it's been a few days. Amber and crew have a few hectic days and her grades showed it. Grades dropped but came back up.

Jeff R. and Jeff d. Amber thanks yall for the support while trying to make MWD. She is now looking forward to Spain. All of us are looking forward to the kids finishing school and coming home on leave.

Jeff R., how is Jason holding up through this past week. Since you are the CNC guru, can you fabricate me a new computer. GONNA need one to handle skype and email while Amber is in Spain. Have to use cheap phone cards for calls home since Verizon cell phone use will be outrageous and expensive. Any good suggestions

Hey MA Dads, I'm back after a loooong sabbatical. I've had some family issues to handle, but I felt a need to reconnect. Two years ago today I dropped my son off at his recruiting station to begin the journey to RTC Great Lakes, and start his Navy career. He's now MA3 Norberto stationed at Naval Station Norfolk, and next summer he heads over to Bahrain to begin a one year deployment with a Mobile Security squad. Time has flown. He as told me he will spend some time at the base at Rota, Spain as well during that deployment.

Jay,  Sorry Amber did not make it.  I know Spain was one of Jason's choices as well if he did not get Okinawa.  He is looking forward to diving there.  He wants to get into the community and volunteer.  I guess there has been some issues with sailors and locals and tensions is running high.  I think the base is on lock down.  Spoke with him for a little bit last night trying to figure out cell phones overseas, looks like it will be skype and e-mail.  He is trying to figure out the travel plans for Christmas.  It was a good show, I'm in precison sheet metal manufacturing and it was a machine show.  Get to see some friends I have made over the years in my travels for work.

Jeff R. And Jeff D., Thanks for all the support for Amber to make MWD. Sad to say she did not get selected. She got bummed out but is getting over it with the intensity of this weeks training. She can now look forward to her posting in Spain. Just a few more weeks and hopefully we get to see them before they head to their next duty station..

Jeff R. that has to be real hard work having to go to Vegas for a trade show. Well, it could be depending on what type of trade show it is..

Jay,  If you can call it work driving to Las Vegas and back for a trade show.  Easy day, just about 550 miles round trip.  I think they both like that we are involved with what's going.  With us talking it keeps them motivated.  Have a good evening and I hope you get good news.

Jeff Drinski, Thanks for the heads-up on MWD. I told Amber what you said. Sounds like your son has an intersting career and adventure in the navy. Is your son still serving in Uncle Sam's canoe club?

Jeff R. Sorry to hear you had to work yesterday instead of being off for Veterans day. i was lucky and certified through MWR as a sport diver. We did our check dives in Monterrey Bay.Had a great time.

Amber told me the same part about test starting with nightfire. Looks like the schedule will be compressed since Monday was a holiday. Due to the change Amber is suppose to interview today for MWD. Amber said 5this is their Hellweek. Good Luck to Jason. Tell him to help keep Amber motivated.

Jay,  I text-ed with Jason several times today.  I was on the road to Las Vegas and back for work today.  He said he has 6 tests in 5 days, so they have some work cutout for them.  Jason just started to try out diving, he loves the water and took a free class at our local Sport Chalet and loved it.  So I'm sure he will want to dive over there.  I used to dive when I was younger and can only imagine what the water looks like over there.  Good Luck to Amber this week and all the tests coming up.

Jay, good luck to Amber in her interview Wednesday!  All the handlers I know seem to love their job!  My son graduated from MWD a little over a year ago.  He was 3rd in his MA class and the female handler that went with him was 2nd.  People have said that the advancement is limited in this rate but Ty made MA3 in a year and a half so we are not complaining.  He has had some really cool missions too, with the President, the VP and the Joint Chiefs.
