Congratulations to all the New MA ( Lackland AFB ) Ray, My son Kris don't get his third class crow either. He said only 700 of 1400 that took the test passed it and 300 of the 700 that got a promotion to MA3. Yea he wasn't very happy about not making it also. I told him he would get another shot at it in six months.

Mr Sailorette/Jim-My Son went there right out of Lackland as well in Feb. He has seen increase in protests and seems to be concerned about the current unstability. I am thankful for all of your sailors sacrifices for our country!

to all:

My son (Sean) is part of MSRON 3 based out of Bahrain, I don't think he actually has spent more the 2 weeks at a time in Bahrain since he has been there. He is always out on mission last time I talked to him he had been on the ship for almost 4 months they were hoping to get back to base for Thanksgiving and maybe stand down long enough to be there for Christmas. He said it's been a long grind and really hopes for some down time.

My son Chris didn't get promoted this time around, but his status is PNA, so he's a little bummed but optimistic. Congratulations and bravo zulu to all the promoted MAs this month!

My daughter is finishing up A School in San Antonio. She tells me that they are told of the different specialties and are asked if they are interested in pursuing them. Ultimately, as Bill said, they are offered Stations/Jobs usually based upon their GPA. Although, in my daughter's class, it was by alphabetical order! She had a choice of 4 Stations and has decided to become part of MSRON 2.

Joe/Mr. Sailorette - my son (Chris) has been in Bahrain since Summer of 2010. He went there right out of Lackland. He's a dog handler (MWD) and loves his job. Although theres been some trouble there, it hasn't affected them much. There are certain places in the city they cannot go and sometimes curfews. So far he has not been on a mission out of the Country. The MSF MA's are the ones doing all the traveling.

JOE what are your thoughts on the situation in Bahrain? I have a friend from there and in my view the situation is definitely sticky.

My sailor -daughter- has not left yet, but is so looking forward to it... Question though.... do the sailors get to pick the field in MA that they want to get into, or are they assigned based on availability... She is looking at either dog handler or force security... any info is helpful and appreciated.

Anyone have an MA in Bahrain? It's hard to believe that my son was in RTC last Thanksgiving. Time went so slow then but its been a year already.

Thanks Jim, Congradulations to your son also..... I was suprised at the at the high percentage of promotions for MA. My sailor is my Grandson, he lost his dad (my son) 6 months before boot camp, but I am sure his dad is very proud.
