Not yet, and he's been on the job since April 1st.
I may have to head back to San Antone to hang at Six Flags with Ty. Chris just texted me that he already saw HANGOVER 2 without me, and I am deeply saddened by that.

He seems to be coping with it well due to the training schedule being pretty full. I bought him a season pass for Six Flags when we were there so he's hoping to find some guys to go there this weekend. He's keeping busy trying to buy a car in his off duty hours right now. Is Chris getting his equipment yet Ray?

Chris' buddy is finishing up his MWD training at San Antonio in the next couple of weeks, and he was in the same boat as Ty. There were six of them who traveled from RTC together. Facebook has been a great tool for them.

Yes Ray, he met his first new partner last week.  A black German Shepherd named Ali.  Seems to be enjoying the training.  But, has been on his own for the most part after classes since all his A school friends left and his new classmates are all older than him.  I'm planning on going down again in the end of June to look at some cars with him.

I forgot to mention the USO office there, and I should have previously! It is great, and I walked in while my son was off with his mates, and thanked the gentleman in there for his volunteering in there. It's very nice, and quiet in there right off the din of the River Walk, which is very cool by the way and a highlight for me back in March on my trip. Has Ty been linked up with his new potential partner yet?

Hey guys, just got home from Ty's graduation in SA. We had a wonderful weekend with him and even got to take him out to dinner for his birthday during the week. He is still there for MWD and classed up today. For those of you with sailors there or headed there tell them about the USO in downtown SA, on Market St. above riverwalk. Ty and I stumbled in there on a lark and he was really excited about going back.

You were a shrewd seaman, El! The MA rating is manned at 113% so it seems likely there is a shortage of gear. Between the 3.2 billion dollar gifting to Pakistan and the 50 million dollar bounty for Osama bin Deadman we should be able to outfit the troops.

Ray, Sounds like the Navy making more MAA then they have equipment for them. You are right this is unacceptable practice with all the money we hand out to other countries. Our serviceman should be the first to receive money for the best equipment available for them. I don't like to hear these stories of our governments failure to do this. I hope it only a matter of few day to ordering the Gear your son should already have. When I was in the Navy I use to order twice the amount of tool and thing my men needed on a dream sheet and it was always cut in half by the Div. Officer to make him look good to the Captain but I got what I wanted and he got what he wanted with this type of deal : )

Chris is doing waterfront patrol at Norfolk, and there are a few other mates who are also doing without for now. I just don't want him to get frustrated and discouraged about that. Everything else has been fine, except for the nuke roommate who came off a six month sub deployment!

Chris just told me today that he's without a kevlar vest and helmet, because the 'ran out'. That's not acceptable. Any advice for what a dad can do from 350 miles away? Or just be encouraging to him?
