Bill, I spoke with him yesterday afternoon and passed along all the info you put in your last post.  Jim's advice was very accurate.  Ty said he was told to give his hat a command and praise it afterwards and he praised the shit out of it!  lol  He also said they asked him why he was better than the other 2 and why they should not be accepted.  He will be stationed at Groton, Connecticut rather than Japan now so I am pleased.  Sounds like I'll be flying into NYC or Boston to visit him.  I'm sure Ray will suggest NYC!  Hopefully before baseball season is over.  Thanks again everyone

HE GOT IT!!!  Thanks for all your advice guys.  From what I got from him by text, he will be moving into a hotel on base for the MWD training and won't be able to take leave after his MAA graduation 5/13.  Does it usually take a while for them to class up for the next training?  Is this considered C school?  We are very excited here if you can't tell.  ha

Jeff, Kris also said sometimes they will lie about the numbers of opening, which will cause more competition between sailors that really want the MWD duty. They told him he would get OC spray phase 2 & 3 if he took Hawaii duty but it hasn't happen yet : )

My son said the same thing.  They're looking for intelligence and confidence.  One thing they may ask him to do is to praise an inanimate object, like a hat or something.  He said "tell him to praise the shit out of it".  Hahaha!  Too funny.

Jeff, Sound like Ty will have no problem get MWD or top duty of his choice. I know you are dam proud of him and have a right to be : ) Jeff I just talk to my son he said in the interview to tell Ty to be positive on the his answers they only want sailor that true want to be dog handlers. My son Kris was second in his MAA Class and got E-3 out of it and picked Hawaii.

Well.....Japan it is.  Still waiting for word on MWD though.  Says he will know by Monday at the latest.  He is ranked third in the class and he is competing against one person above and one below him for 2 MWD slots...any suggestions for the interview?  I think he does that tomorrow afternoon.

Thinking good thoughts for his choices tomorrow Jeff.
Yo Redfly, I hope we can get together when you and Joey - and I hope Mr. Sanchez too - are in the Big Apple. You should try to get tickets to a Yankees game, they're doing $5 tickets during mid week games, in the bleachers and upper deck. Then I can do a visual inspection! And maybe Joey can demonstrate some techniques he's learned...

Talked to Ty this afternoon.  He is excited about tomorrow and plans to talk to senior chief about applying for MWD. Says he is definitely toward the top of the class so he should get a good shot if he doesn't get accepted into MWD program. I certainly like the idea of him being in Texas for another 3 months. I think I'm just as excited to hear the choices as he is.

Thanks Elbert for the info.  I am sure my son is going to love it there...
