That's part of what I am telling him, and as an honor grad from RTC he is already on the radar a bit. He says he doesn't really care where he deploys since he had really wanted to go to Bahrain. He has until Wednesday to choose. And while I do like the idea of visiting him in the San Diego area, I still feel an East Coast bias.
He also told me one of the MWD Handler posts is in Italy. Is that Naples? I looked up NavStas on Google, and it showed a couple, including Naples, but also one on Sicily, which any Italian (as myself) will tell anyone who might be listening is not Italy!
Virginia is my personal choice too, for that reason! I also know a family whose son is graduating PIR on the 18th; the step dad was our first officer returning from GL last month. They were original NYC kids, and now live in Miami. We hit it off. I should double check the kid's last name, his first name is Joey, and he's also going to San Antonio for MA A school.
Chris' opinion of Virginia: too close to the top ranking officers, they'll be STRICT on regulations. I wanted to ask: for you to break, or for you to enforce?...I shall get my dad to talk to him, see what his Navy vet perspective.
So I just talked to my son Chris, and he told me about his list of deployment options for his class. He was not enamored of the list, but here is what he told me were the options:
Guam, Coronado, San Diego, Washington state, a couple of choices in Virginia, New Hampshire, and a couple of MWD options, but I didn't catch where those deployments were. He really wanted Bahrain, so he was disappointed about that. I on the other hand was not disappointed. He won't get first choice, but he still will be one of the first few. Any thoughts about these choices? They're three year duty stations.
