HI David, sounds like Colin is doing a lot of heavy training. Too bad he & Kasea weren't able to run into each other. She WAS enjoying the school until Joaquin got involved. They're hoping the weather will be better this week and they can continue training.

Paul, you're right, Flight crews have always had it tough. The helo crew on our destroyer were walking zombies when flight operations were going on. The problem Kasea has is that they are calling HER in and not the others. She'll get it straightened out.

Go to top of the main page and you can use the GOOGLE search tool to search for Bahrain and see what other posts there are on the site- that search tool will only search NavyDads unless you uncheck the box

Does anyone have any information on Bahrain? My son got his orders yesterday.  More than have of his class at Lackland got "Voluntold"  that they were headed there.  Is there wifi on base? Is it better or him to buy a cell phone plan once he gets there?  How soon can he start taking college classes if they are available?  Is there a chance he will be deployed on a ship once he gets there?  Any help in answering these questions would be appreciated.  He wanted me to find out what I could and he is going to ask around at Lackland to find out information as well.

Welcome to the real world...get on the flight deck of a deployed carrier and see what long days are....and in extraordinarily difficult conditions (156-degree heat index on my son's carrier this past summer).

Wow, long days. Hope she enjoys the school. Colin's in Virginia too. He just finished the riverine crewman course, which is drive the boats, but now they assigned him to the riverine security team, they guys who go onto land for their missions. He's going to advanced rapid reaction school in October and then VBSS school after that.

Cool thing is though he comes home today for a week of leave. Happy mom and dad.

Kasea's getting ready to attend Level 2 Coxswain school in Virginia next week. They've had her working long days (16-hour days for several days straight). They keep calling her in on her days off. I don't see how they think that the sailors can work at their optimum like that. I guess we'll have to see how things are when she gets back.

I'm not sure about the case you're son is facing, but when my son went there in February, there were too many to take them all. So he volunteered to take a later class a week or two later. It worked out well for him as he got the assignment he wanted.

It'll be good.

My son faced a similar situation two months ago. They used Ssn to schedule the classes. Get used to hurry up and wait, that is how it works. All will be okay!

My son arrived in San Antonio yesterday ready to go for A school.  He was telling me that they have to do a physical test on Wednesday to kind of complete for a spot in this weeks training group.  I guess that have too many new Sailors to start with this week.  Is this a common occurrence?
